Warning

In order to avoid being burned, do not service the exhaust system while it is still hot. Service the system when it is cool.

Warning

Avoid contact with HOT components. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves to avoid personal injury. Removal Procedure

1. Front Wheelhouse Liner - Right Side » Remove — Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement

2. Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Nut (1) » Remove [2x]
3. Wiring Harness Retainer (2) » Remove
4. Raise the vehicle.

5. Using a suitable tool, remove the position 2 nitrogen oxides sensor (1) from the nitrogen oxides catalytic converter.

6. Using a suitable tool, remove the position 3 nitrogen oxides sensor (1) from the nitrogen oxides catalytic converter.

7. Using a suitable tool, remove the exhaust particulate sensor (1) from the nitrogen oxides catalytic converter.

8. Exhaust Pipe Clamp (1) » Loosen

9. Exhaust Front Pipe Nut (1) » Remove [2x]

10. Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket (1) » Remove

11. Exhaust Front Pipe Nut (1) » Remove [2x]

12. Nitrogen Oxides Catalytic Converter (1) » Remove
13. Exhaust System Front Gasket (2) » Remove and DISCARD

14. Transfer Case Skid Shield Bolt (1) » Remove [3x]
15. Transfer Case Skid Shield (2) » Remove
16. Support the transmission with a suitable jack.

17. Remove the wiring harness (2) with automatic level control air supply line (3) from the retainers (1) and reposition as necessary.

18. Remove the chassis wire harness clip (1) from the automatic level control air supply reservoir.

19. Remove the 3 automatic level control air compressor bolts (1).
20. Reposition and support the automatic level control air supply reservoir (2) out of the way of the transmission support crossmember.

21. Transmission Mount Nut (1) » Remove [2x]
22. Transmission Support Crossmember Nut (2) » Remove [4x]
23. Transmission Support Crossmember Bolt (3) » Remove [4x]

24. Transmission Support Crossmember (1) » Remove
25. Lower the transmission enough to gain access to the transmission vent hose.

26. Remove the 2 transmission vent hose retainers (1).

27. Remove the transmission vent hose. (2) Installation Procedure

28. Install transmission vent hose. (2)

29. Install the 2 transmission vent hose retainers (1).

30. Raise the transmission into place.

31. Transmission Support Crossmember (1) » Install

32. Transmission Support Crossmember Bolt (3) » Install [4x]

Caution

Refer to Fastener Caution

6. Transmission Support Crossmember Nut (2) » Install and tighten [4x] — Fastener Specifications

7. Transmission Mount Nut (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

8. Remove the transmission jack.

9. Automatic Level Control Air Supply Reservoir (2) » Install

10. Install the 3 automatic level control air compressor bolts (1) and tighten. Fastener Specifications

11. Install the chassis wire harness clip (1) to the automatic level control air supply reservoir.

12. Install the wiring harness (2) with automatic level control air supply line (3) into the retainers  (1).

13. Transfer Case Skid Shield (2) » Install

14. Transfer Case Skid Shield Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications

15. Exhaust System Front Gasket (2) » Install NEW

16. Nitrogen Oxides Catalytic Converter (1) » Install

17. Exhaust Front Pipe Nut (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

18. Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket (1) » Install

19. Exhaust Front Pipe Nut (1) » Install [2x] — Fastener Specifications

20. Exhaust Pipe Clamp (1) » Tighten — Fastener Specifications

21. Apply a suitable anti-seize compound to the threads of the sensor. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

Caution

Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Caution.

22. Exhaust Particulate Sensor (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

23. Apply a suitable anti-seize compound to the threads of the sensor. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

24. Nitrogen Oxides Sensor - Position 3 (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

25. Apply a suitable anti-seize compound to the threads of the sensor. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

26. Nitrogen Oxides Sensor - Position 2 » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

27. Lower the vehicle.

28. Wiring Harness Retainer (2) » Install

29. Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Nut (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

30. Front Wheelhouse Liner - Right Side » Install — Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement

31. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks.
