The fuel pressure regulator is a part of the high pressure fuel pump. The fuel pressure regulator is the solenoid valve that controls the pressure in the fuel rail. - Verify the scan tool parameter: Fuel Rail Pressure = 3 to 8.2 MPa (435 to 1200 PSI) ⇒ If not between 3 and 8.2 MPa (435 and 1200 PSI) Refer to: Circuit/System Testing ⇓ If between 3 and 8.2 MPa (435 and 1200 PSI)
- Perform the scan tool control function: Fuel Rail Pressure » Increase & Decrease Verify the scan tool parameter: Fuel Rail Pressure = The value should change with each command. ⇒ If the value does not change Refer to: Circuit/System Testing ⇓ If the value changes
- Clear the DTCs.
- From a stop, accelerate to 7,000 RPM with the throttle position greater than 95%. Verify the scan tool parameter: Fuel Rail Pressure = 14 to 17 MPa (2,031 to 2,466 PSI) ⇒ If not between 14 and 17 MPa (2,031 and 2,466 PSI) Refer to: Circuit/System Testing ⇓ If between 14 and 17 MPa (2,031 and 2,466 PSI)
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data. Verify the DTC does not set. ⇒ If the DTC sets Refer to: Circuit/System Testing ⇓ If the DTC is not set

- Inspect the component for wear or damage: Camshaft Lobe(s) ⇒ If worn Replace the component: Camshaft ⇓ If not worn
- Test or replace the component: G18 Fuel Pump - High Pressure Component Testing

- Disconnect the electrical connector: G18 Fuel Pump - High Pressure
- Test for 0.9 to 1.4 Ω between the test points: Control terminal 1 & Control terminal 2 ⇒ If not between 0.9 and 1.4 Ω Replace the component: G18 Fuel Pump - High Pressure ⇓ If between 0.9 and 1.4 Ω
- Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Each terminal of the component & The component’s housing ⇒ If less than infinite resistance Replace the component: G18 Fuel Pump - High Pressure ⇓ If infinite resistance
