Caution

Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced. Removal Procedure

Note

The Prepare Control Module for Removal function can only be performed when communication with the old control module is still possible.

1. Before removing the chassis control module, perform SPS function prepare control module for removal, if available. K38 Chassis Control Module: Programming and Setup
2. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling

3. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Remove

5. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

Note

Feed the rear seat belt opening bezel and rear seat belt through the body lock upper trim panel.

6. Body Lock Pillar Upper Trim Panel (1) » Reposition

7. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
8. Reposition the quarter lower rear trim panel (1) enough to access the module.

9. Disconnect the electrical connector. (1)

10. Depress the 2 retaining tabs (1) and remove the chassis control module (2) from the bracket. Installation Procedure

11. Chassis Control Module (2) » Install

12. Connect the electrical connector. (1)

13. Quarter Lower Rear Trim Panel (1) » Install

14. Body Lock Pillar Upper Trim Panel (1) » Install

5. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications
6. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Install
7. Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling
8. Program the control module: K38 Chassis Control Module: Programming and Setup
