The 5 V reference circuit provides a regulated 5 V output from the K 9 Body Control Module to multiple components and sensors. Conditions for Running the DTC Ignition ON Ignition voltage is greater then 6.5 V. Conditions for Setting the DTC P0641 or P06A3 The regulated 5 V reference circuit voltage not between 4.47 V and 5.22 V. Are Type C DTCs. P0651 The regulated 5 V reference circuit voltage is not between 4.16 V and 5.25 V. Are Type C DTCs. P0697 The regulated 5 V reference circuit voltage is not between 4.16 V and 5.25 V. Are Type B DTCs. Conditions for Clearing the DTC The conditions for setting the DTC are no longer present. A history DTC will clear after 40 consecutive ignition cycles without a fault. Diagnostic Aids The diagnostics in the document is only for K9 Body Control Module DTC’s. Refer to the appropriate module diagnostics where the DTC’s are set. P0697 Are Type B DTCs. Scan Tool Reference Control Module References Circuit/System Verification

1. Ignition On.
2. Verify there are no system voltage DTCs set as current or history in any control module. ⇒ If any system voltage DTCs are set Diagnose these DTCs first. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle. ⇓ If no system voltage DTCs are set
3. Ignition Off and all vehicle systems off.

Note

The battery voltage should stabilize after a few minutes of turning the ignition/vehicle Off.

4. Verify the battery voltage is between 12.4 V to 12.8 V at the C1 Battery. ⇒ If not between the specified range Refer to Battery Inspection/Test ⇓ If between the specified range
5. Engine Running with all accessories off, allow the system voltage to stabilize.
6. Test for 13 V to 15 V at the C1 Battery. ⇒ If not the specified value Refer to Charging System Test ⇓ If the specified range
7. Verify DTC P0641, P0651, P0697, or P06A3 are not set as current. ⇒ If DTC P0641, P0651, P0697, or P06A3 are set as current Replace the K 9 Body Control Module. ⇓ If DTC P0641, P0651, P0697, or P06A3 are not set as current
