Circuit/System Description The Rear Seat Infotainment system utilizes two 12.6 inch fixed 16x9 aspect ratio, touch panel LCD displays with 1920x1080 pixel resolution. P22F Rear Display – Passenger Seat Back (Display 1) located in the back of the passenger seat is a smart display. P22E Rear Display – Driver Seat Back (Display 2) located in the back of the driver’s seat is a slave display. Display 1 is connected to Display 2 via a LVDS cable. Also connected to the P22F Rear Display – Passenger Seat Back is a X83B Audio/Video Input Adaptor which houses 2 USB ports and 2 HDMI ports. Diagnostic Aids Refer to the owners manual or supplements for information on operating the rear seat entertainment system, compatible media, and compatible devices. Verify the external audio or video device is operating normally before performing this diagnostic procedure. - Verify no DTCs are present. ⇒ If any DTCs are present Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle. ⇓ If no DTCs are present
- Ignition ON, rear seat entertainment system ON.
- Verify the Home screen can be displayed on each of the rear seat displays. ⇒ If either of the rear seat displays do not display properly. Refer to the appropriate Circuit/System Testing- Display Screen Malfunction. ⇓ If both rear seat displays operate correctly.
- Connect a compatible USB device to the rear seat entertainment system USB port and attempt to play audio.
- Verify the audio is heard through the rear seat entertainment system. ⇒ If audio is not heard Refer to Circuit/System Testing- USB/HDMI Port ⇓ If audio is heard
- Connect a compatible media device to the X83B Audio/Video Input Adapter HDMI port. Operate the rear seat entertainment system to connect to the HDMI port as the source.
- Verify that audio and video from the device can be accessed while operating the device. ⇒ If the audio or video from the device cannot be accessed Refer to Circuit/System Testing– USB/HDMI Port ⇓ If the audio or video from the device can be accessed
- All OK. Circuit/System Testing USB/ HDMI Port
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the X83B Audio/Video Input Adapter.
- Test for less than 10 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 4 and ground. ⇒ If 10 Ω or greater 2.1. Ignition OFF. 2.2. Test for less than 2 Ω in the ground circuit end to end. ⇒ If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit. ⇒ If less than 2 Ω, repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection. ⇓ If less than 10 Ω
- Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 6 and ground. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate 3.1. Ignition OFF, remove the test lamp. 3.2. Test for less than 2 Ω in the B+ circuit end to end. ⇒ If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit. ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates
- Verify the USB and LVDS cables are properly connected at the X83B Audio/Video Input Adapter, P22F Video Display – Right Front Seat Back, and the X83B Auxiliary Audio Input and there is no damage to the cable or connections. ⇒ If connection problems or cable damage is noted. Perform the appropriate repair or replacement to correct any issues. ⇓ If no connection problems or cable damage is noted.
- Replace the X83B Audio/Video Input Adapter. Connect all harness connectors.
- Ignition ON, rear seat entertainment system ON.
- Connect a compatible USB device to the X83B Audio/Video Input Adapter USB port and attempt to play audio.
- Verify the audio is heard through the rear seat entertainment system. ⇒ If audio is not heard Refer to Auxiliary Audio Input Malfunction ⇓ If audio is heard
- Connect a compatible media device to the X83B Audio/Video Input Adapter HDMI port. Operate the rear seat entertainment system to connect to the HDMI port as the source.
- Verify that audio and video from the device can be accessed while operating the device. ⇒ If audio/video can not be accessed from the device.
- Replace the P22F Video Display – Right Front Seat Back. ⇓ If audio/video can be accessed from the device. All OK. Display Screen Malfunction – Only Passenger Screen Inoperative.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the P22F Video Display – Passenger Seat Back.
- Test for less than 10 Ω between the ground circuits listed below and ground: Ground circuit terminal 2 Ground circuit terminal 9 ⇒ If 10 Ω or greater 2.1. Ignition OFF. 2.2. Test for less than 2 Ω in the ground circuit end to end. ⇒ If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit. ⇒ If less than 2 Ω, repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection. ⇓ If less than 10 Ω
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the P22F Video Display – Passenger Seat Back. Ignition ON, infotainment system ON.
- Verify a test light illuminates between the B+ circuits listed below and ground: B+ circuit terminal 1 B+ circuit terminal 8 ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate 4.1. Ignition OFF, remove the test lamp. 4.2. Test for less than 2 Ω in the B+ circuits end to end. ⇒ If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit. ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the P22F Video Display – Passenger Seat Back. Ignition ON, infotainment system ON..
- Verify a test light illuminates between the control circuit terminal 6 and ground. ⇒ If the test light does not illuminate. 6.1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the A11 Radio. 6.2. Test for less then 2 Ω on the control circuit end to end. ⇒ If greater then 2 Ω, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit. 6.3. Test for infinite resistance between the control circuit and ground. ⇒ If less then infinite resistance, repair the short to ground in the circuit. ⇒ If infinite resistance, replace the A11 Radio. ⇒ If test light illuminates.
- Replace the P22F Video Display – Passenger Seat Back. Display Screen Malfunction – Only Driver Screen Inoperative.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the P22E Video Display – Driver Seat Back.
- Test for less than 10 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground ⇒ If 10 Ω or greater 2.1. Ignition OFF. 2.2. Test for less than 2 Ω in the ground circuit end to end. ⇒ If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit. ⇒ If less than 2 Ω, repair the open/high resistance in the ground connection. ⇓ If less than 10 Ω
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the P22E Video Display – Driver Seat Back. Ignition ON, infotainment system ON.
- Verify a test light illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 1 and ground ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate 4.1. Ignition OFF, remove the test lamp. 4.2. Test for less than 2 Ω in the B+ circuits end to end. ⇒ If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit. ⇓ If less than 2 Ω. ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the P22E Video Display – Driver Seat Back. Ignition ON, infotainment system ON..
- Verify a test light illuminates between the control circuit terminal 6 and ground. ⇒ If the test light does not illuminate. 6.1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the A11 Radio. 6.2. Test for less then 2 Ω on the control circuit end to end. ⇒ If greater then 2 Ω, repair the open/high resistance in the circuit. ⇓ If less than 2 Ω. 6.3. Test for infinite resistance between the control circuit and ground. ⇒ If less then infinite resistance, repair the short to ground in the circuit. ⇒ If infinite resistance, replace the A11 Radio. ⇒ If test light illuminates.
- Replace the LVDS cable between the Video Display – Passenger Seat Back and the P22E Video Display – Driver Seat Back.
- Connect a compatible media device to the X83B Audio/Video Input Adapter HDMI port. Operate the rear seat entertainment system to connect to the HDMI port as the source.
- Verify that audio and video from the device can be accessed to the P22E Video Display – Driver Seat Back while operating the device. ⇒ If the audio or video from the device cannot be accessed
- Replace the P22E Video Display – Driver Seat Back. ⇓ If the audio or video from the device can be accessed
- All OK. Display Screen Malfunction – Both.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the P22F Video Display – Passenger Seat Back and the P22E Video Display – Driver Seat Back.
- Test for less than 10 Ω between the ground circuit terminal 2 and ground at each rear seat display ⇒ If 10 Ω or greater 2.1. Ignition OFF. 2.2. Test for less than 2 Ω in the affected ground circuit end to end. ⇒ If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the appropriate circuit. ⇒ If less than 2 Ω, repair the open/high resistance in the appropriate ground connection. ⇓ If less than 10 Ω
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the P22F Video Display – Passenger Seat Back and the P22E Video Display – Driver Seat Back. Ignition ON
- Verify a test light illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal 1 and ground at each rear seat display ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate 4.1. Ignition OFF, remove the test lamp. 4.2. Test for less than 2 Ω in the affected B+ circuit end to end. ⇒ If 2 Ω or greater, repair the open/high resistance in the appropriate circuit. ⇓ If less than 2 Ω. ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the P22F Video Display – Passenger Seat Back and the P22E Video Display – Driver Seat Back. Ignition ON, infotainment system ON.
- Verify a test light illuminates between the control circuit terminal 6 and ground at each rear seat display. ⇒ If the test light does not illuminate. 6.1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X1 harness connector at the A11 Radio. 6.2. Test for less then 2 Ω on the control circuit end to end at each rear seat display. ⇒ If greater then 2 Ω, repair the open/high resistance in the appropriate circuit. ⇓ If less than 2 Ω. 6.3. Test for infinite resistance between the appropriate control circuit and ground. ⇒ If less then infinite resistance, repair the short to ground in the circuit. ⇒ If infinite resistance, replace the A11 Radio. ⇒ If test light illuminates.
- Replace the P22F Video Display – Passenger Seat Back Repair Instructions Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the repair. Control Module References for media disc player replacement, programming, and setup.
