Caution

Always turn the ignition off when installing or removing the ECM connectors in order to prevent damage to the components.

Caution

Turn the ignition OFF when installing or removing the control module connectors and disconnecting or reconnecting the power to the control module in order to prevent internal control module damage. Control module damage may result when the metal case contacts battery voltage. DO NOT contact the control module metal case with battery voltage when servicing a control module, using battery booster cables, or when charging the vehicle battery. In order to prevent any possible electrostatic discharge damage to the control module, do no touch the connector pins or the soldered components on the circuit board. Remove any debris from around the control module connector surfaces before servicing the control module. Inspect the control module connector gaskets, and ensure that the gaskets are installed correctly. The gaskets prevent contaminant intrusion into the control module. Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
2. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

3. { If equipped } Front Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt (1) » Remove

4. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Remove [3x]

5. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Remove [3x]
6. Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer (2) » Remove

7. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Remove [3x]
8. Reposition the front wheelhouse liner rearward.

9. Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors (1) from the engine control module.
10. Disengage the 2 wiring harness retainers (2).
11. Use a suitable tool to pry back the locking tabs (3).

12. Disengage the 2 wiring harness retainers (1).

13. Engine Control Module (1) » Remove

15. Disconnect the transmission control module electrical connector (1).

16. Engine Control Module Bracket (2) » Remove

17. Use a suitable tool to pry back the locking tab and remove the transmission control module   (1) by sliding it out from the bracket  (2). Installation Procedure

18. Transmission Control Module (1) » Install

19. Engine Control Module Bracket (2) » Install

20. Reconnect the transmission control module electrical connector  (1).

Caution

Refer to Fastener Caution.

4. Engine Control Module Bracket Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications

5. Engine Control Module (1) » Install

6. Engage the 2 wiring harness retainers (1).

7. Engage the 2 wiring harness retainers (2).

8. Reconnect the 3 electrical connectors (1) to the engine control module.

9. Reposition the front wheelhouse liner forward.

10. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications

11. Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer (2) » Install
12. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications

13. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications

14. { If equipped } Front Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

15. Install the front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

16. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
