Engine Control Module Bracket Replacement

Caution

Always turn the ignition off when installing or removing the ECM connectors in order to prevent damage to the components.

Caution

Turn the ignition OFF when installing or removing the control module connectors and disconnecting or reconnecting the power to the control module in order to prevent internal control module damage. Control module damage may result when the metal case contacts battery voltage. DO NOT contact the control module metal case with battery voltage when servicing a control module, using battery booster cables, or when charging the vehicle battery. In order to prevent any possible electrostatic discharge damage to the control module, do no touch the connector pins or the soldered components on the circuit board. Remove any debris from around the control module connector surfaces before servicing the control module. Inspect the control module connector gaskets, and ensure that the gaskets are installed correctly. The gaskets prevent contaminant intrusion into the control module. Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
2. Remove the left front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

3. { If equipped } Front Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt (1) » Remove

4. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Remove [6x]
5. Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer (2) » Remove
6. Front Wheelhouse Liner (3) » Reposition

7. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
8. Use a suitable tool to release the locking tabs securing the engine control module to the engine control module bracket.

10. Disconnect the electrical connector. (1)

11. Disconnect harness retainers as needed.

12. Engine Control Module Bracket Bolt (1) » Remove [3x]

13. Engine Control Module Bracket (2) » Remove

14. Use a suitable tool to release the locking tab and remove the transmission control module (3) by sliding it out from the bracket (2). Installation Procedure

15. Transmission Control Module (3) » Install

16. Engine Control Module Bracket (2) » Install

3. Engine Control Module Bracket Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications

4. Install harness retainers as needed.

5. Connect the electrical connector. (1)

6. Engine Control Module (1) » Install

7. Connect the electrical connectors.

8. Front Wheelhouse Liner (3) » Install

9. Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer (2) » Install

10. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [6x] — Fastener Specifications

11. { If equipped } Front Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

12. Install the left front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

13. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
