Liftgate Ajar Indicator Description and Operation

Rear Access Open Manual Liftgate The driver information center will display the Rear Access Open message when the body control module (BCM) detects that the liftgate is open. The instrument panel cluster receives a serial data message from the BCM requesting illumination. If the vehicle is in the forward or reverse gear position, the BCM activates an audible warning. Power Liftgate The rear gate module detects the rear gate latch unlatch switch is closed to ground indicating the liftgate is open. The driver information center receives a serial data message from the rear gate module indicating the liftgate ajar status and the driver information center display the Rear Access Open message Rear Liftglass Open Liftgate Window The lighting control module will monitor the voltage on the liftglass ajar signal circuit, when the ajar switch is open, the voltage level within the signal circuit will be greater than 7 volts indicating the liftgate window is in the closed position. When the liftgate window is open or ajar, the ajar switch will close providing a ground path for the signal circuit, the lighting control module will detect the drop in voltage and will send a serial data message to the driver information center to display the Rear Liftglass Open message.
