Diagnostic Instructions Perform the Diagnostic System Check prior to using this diagnostic procedure: Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle Review the description of Strategy Based Diagnosis: Strategy Based Diagnosis An overview of each diagnostic category can be found here: Diagnostic Procedure Instructions DTC Descriptor DTC P1465 Reductant Control Module System Voltage Low DTC P1466 Reductant Control Module System Voltage High Symptom Byte Information: Symptom Byte List Circuit/System Description The K115 Reductant Control Module monitors the system voltage on circuit 3440 & 2040 to ensure that they stay within the proper range. An open or high resistance on the ground circuit 1650 may affect the K115 Reductant Control Modules ability to monitor and report the correct system voltage. Conditions for Running the DTC Ignition On - Engine Off Ignition On - Engine Running Conditions for Setting the DTC The Control Module Voltage is less then 9 V for more than 5 s. The Control Module Voltage is more then 15.9 V for more than 5 s. Actions Taken When the DTC Sets A message and/or warning indicator may be displayed to the driver. The control module may be disabled. Conditions for Clearing the DTC The system Voltage is Between 9 and 15 V. Diagnostic Aids A low or high voltage DTC set in multiple modules may indicate a concern with the charging system. A possible cause for DTCs regarding high system voltage could be overcharging with a battery charger or jump starting. The last 2 digits of the circuit number are significant in identifying its power and/or ground function. – Circuits ending in 42 are primary fused B+ circuits (generally the first fuse in the circuit after the battery) – Circuits ending in 40 are secondary fused circuits (generally fuses in a fuse block after the primary circuit) – Circuits ending in 39 and 41 are ignition voltage circuits. – Circuits ending in 50 are grounds. – Circuits ending in 51 are low reference (ground).   1. Ignition ON.
  1. Verify there are no system voltage DTCs set as current or history in any control module. ⇒ If any system voltage DTCs are set Diagnose these DTCs first. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle. ⇓ If no system voltage DTCs are set
  2. Ignition Off and all vehicle systems OFF.
  1. Verify the battery voltage is between 12.4 V to 12.8 V at the C1 Battery. ⇒ If not between the specified range Refer to Battery Inspection/Test ⇓ If between the specified range
  2. Engine Running with all accessories off, allow the system voltage to stabilize.
  3. Test for 13 V to 15 V at the C1 Battery. ⇒ If not the specified value Refer to Charging System Test ⇓ If the specified range
  4. Verify DTC P1465 or P1466 is set as current. ⇒ If DTC P1465 or P1466 is set as current Refer to Circuit/System Testing. ⇓ If DTC P1465 or P1466 is not set as current
  5. A fault is not currently present and may be an intermittent condition. Circuit/System Testing
  6. Ignition Off, disconnect the connector at the K115 Reductant Control Module.
  7. Verify a test lamp illuminates between ground circuit terminal 13 and B+ ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate Repair the open/high resistance on circuit 1650 or the ground connection. ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates
  8. Verify a test lamp illuminates between ground circuit terminal 25 and B+ ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate Repair the open/high resistance on circuit 1650 or the ground connection. ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates
  9. Ignition ON.
  10. Verify a test lamp Illuminates between B+ circuit terminal 1 and ground. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is good 5.1. Test circuit 2040 for an open/high resistance. ⇒ if an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If an open or high resistance is not found 5.2. Verify the fuse is not open and there is voltage at the fuse. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is open 5.1. Test circuit 2040 for a short to ground ⇒ If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If a short to ground is not found 5.2. Replace the K115 Reductant Control Module ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates
  11. Ignition ON.
  12. Verify a test lamp Illuminates between B+ circuit terminal 38 and ground. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is good 7.1. Test circuit 3340 for an open/high resistance. ⇒ if an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If an open or high resistance is not found 7.2. Verify the fuse is not open and there is voltage at the fuse. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is open 7.1. Test circuit 3340 for a short to ground ⇒ If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If a short to ground is not found 7.2. Replace the K115 Reductant Control Module ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates
  13. Verify the voltage at B+ terminal 1 is within 1 V of the C1 Battery voltage. ⇒ If not within the specified value Repair the high resistance on circuit 2040. ⇓ If within the specified value
  14. Verify the voltage at B+ terminal 38 is within 1 V of the C1 Battery voltage. ⇒ If not within the specified value Repair the high resistance on circuit 3340. ⇓ If within the specified value
  15. Ignition ON.
  16. Verify a test lamp Illuminates between B+ circuit terminal 30 and ground. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is good 11.1. Test circuit 2139 for an open/high resistance. ⇒ if an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If an open or high resistance is not found 11.2. Verify the fuse is not open and there is voltage at the fuse. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is open 11.1. Test circuit 2139 for a short to ground ⇒ If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If a short to ground is not found 11.2. Replace the K115 Reductant Control Module ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates
  17. Verify the voltage at B+ terminal 30 is within 1 V of the C1 Battery voltage. ⇒ If not within the specified value Repair the high resistance on circuit 2139. ⇓ If within the specified value
