Circuit/System Description The B20A Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch is a normally open switch that closes when the brake fluid is below the minimum level. The switch is magnetically actuated by a float. The K160 Brake System Control Module monitors the switch on signal circuit 333 and the switch receives a constant ground on ground circuit 1151. Conditions for Running the DTC Ignition/Vehicle = ON Conditions for Setting the DTC Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch = Low — For greater than 5 s Ground circuit = open Signal circuit = open /Short to Ground Actions Taken When the DTC Sets Brake warning indicator malfunction. = ON ABS Warning Indicator = ON Traction/Stability Control Indicator = ON Hill Descent Control = ON Brake Assist = None A message and/or warning indicator may be displayed to the driver. Conditions for Clearing the DTC The conditions for setting the DTC no longer exist. - Verify the condition does not exist: Incorrect fluid level or condition ⇒ If a condition exists Repair or replace as necessary ⇓ If no condition exists
- Refer to Circuit/System Testing. Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the connector at the B20A Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch.
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between ground terminal 2 and B+ ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate Repair the open/high resistance on circuit 1151 or the ground connection. ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates
- Verify the scan tool Brake Fluid Level Switch parameter is greater than 10 V ⇒ If the parameter is less than 10 V 3.1. Test circuit 333 for a short to ground. ⇒ If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If a short to ground is not found 3.2. Replace the K160 Brake System Control Module. ⇓ If the parameter is greater than 10 V
- Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between signal terminal 1 and ground terminal 2.
- Verify the scan tool Brake Fluid Level Switch parameter is less than 1 V. ⇒ If the parameter is 1 V or greater 5.1. Test circuit 333 for a short to voltage. ⇒ If an short to voltage is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If a short to voltage is found is not found 5.2. Test circuit 333 for an open/high resistance. ⇒ If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If a open/high resistance is not found 5.3. Replace the K160 Brake System Control Module. ⇓ If the parameter is less than 1 V
