Fuel Injector Flow Rate Programming

Diagnostic Instructions Perform the Diagnostic System Check prior to using this diagnostic procedure: Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle Review the description of Strategy Based Diagnosis: Strategy Based Diagnosis Description Fuel injectors are solenoid valves that inject fuel either into the intake system or directly into the cylinder. The amount of fuel injected depends on the length of the electrical pulse that is applied. The injector flow rate identifier is stored in the engine control module. This identifier is written on the injector and indicates the actual flow rate for this specific injector. This is used to compensate manufacturing tolerances of the injectors. When to Perform the Procedure The injector flow rate programming must be performed if one or more of the following components have been replaced: K20 Engine Control Module Q17 Fuel Injector Diagnostic Aids Injector Flow Identifier — Location

Option 1 Injector Flow Identifier (1) — Record the Injector Flow Identifier information from all injectors. Option 2

  1. QR Code (2) » Scan with smartphone or suitable device
  2. Injector Flow Identifier = Digit 42−65, 68, 69
  1. Perform the following action: { Q17 Fuel Injector — Replaced } Record the Injector Flow Identifier information from the new injectors. { K20 Engine Control Module — Replaced } Record the Injector Flow Identifier information from all injectors.
  2. Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
  3. Select: Module Diagnostics
  4. Select: Engine Control Module
  5. Select: Configuration/Reset Functions
  6. Select: Injector Flow Rate Programming
  7. Select: Cylinder 1–6 Injector Flow Identifier
  8. Enter the recorded injector flow identifier for each injector. Verify the scan tool procedure was successful. ⇒ If the procedure was not successful Repeat step 1 ⇓ If the procedure was successful
