  1. Clean the brake caliper piston bore with denatured alcohol, or equivalent.

  2. Inspect the caliper bore for cracks, scoring, pitting and corrosion.

  3. If cracks, scoring, pitting or corrosion exists, replace the brake caliper. Assembly Procedure

  4. Lubricate the rear brake cylinder piston seal (3) with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

  5. Install the NEW rear brake cylinder piston seal (3) into the brake caliper housing groove. Ensure the rear brake cylinder piston seal is properly seated in the caliper housing groove and is not distorted.

  6. Install the NEW rear brake caliper piston boot (2) into the brake caliper housing dust boot groove on the piston.

  7. Install the rear brake caliper piston (1) in the brake caliper housing body aligning the park brake spindle nut flat features with corresponding flat features inside piston hollow so when the rear brake cylinder piston (1) is pressed into the bore the spindle nut and piston mate.

  8. Install the rear brake caliper piston boot into the rear brake caliper housing.

  9. Fully seat the rear brake caliper piston (1) into the brake caliper bore.
