Removal Procedure

Warning

Refer to SIR Warning.

Caution

If a vehicle is equipped with a head curtain inflator module ensure that the inflator module and tether are undamaged. If tether or curtain airbag are damaged in any way, they must be replaced.

Caution

Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced.

2. Unclip the sunshade and rotate the sunshade to the side.
3. Open the sunshade support bolt access cover with an appropriate tool.
4. Sunshade Support Bolt (1) » Remove

5. Reposition the weatherstrip as necessary.
6. Pull the windshield garnish molding (1)  rearwards to release the tether from the A pillar.
7. Access the windshield garnish bolt (2) which is located on the backside of the windshield garnish molding (1) and secures the tether to the A pillar.

10. Fold the assist handle downward and hold. (2)
11. Use a small flat-bladed tool to open the assist handle covers to access the bolts.

14. Sunshade Retainer Bolt Cover (1) » Remove
15. Sunshade Bolt (2) » Remove [3x]
16. Squeeze the tabs at the base of the sunshade (3) to detach it from the roof panel and allow the headliner with the sunshade attached to be lowered.

17. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
18. Roof Console Opening Trim Plate (1) » Remove
19. Roof Console Bolt (2) » Remove [2x]
20. Roof Console (3) » Remove
21. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

22. Move the front seat fully forward.
23. Use a flat bladed plastic tool between the center pillar center trim panel (1) and the center pillar upper trim panel to disengage the upper retaining clips (2).
24. Pull from both sides of the center pillar center trim panel (1) to release the middle and lower retaining clips (2).

26. Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Remove
27. Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Bolt (2) » Remove
28. Pull the trim panel (3) toward the inside of the vehicle to disengage the retaining clips.
29. Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel (3) » Reposition

30. Lower the left front section of the headlining trim panel (1).

31. Remove excess glue and material from the mobile telephone microphone harness and re-tape areas where the tape was removed or damaged.

32. Disconnect the electrical connector.

33. Release the retaining tabs and remove the mobile telephone microphone opening trim plate  (1).

34. Release the retaining tabs and remove the mobile telephone microphone (2). Installation Procedure

37. Secure the retaining tabs.

38. Connect the electrical connector.

39. Use hot melt adhesive to install the mobile telephone microphone harness harness. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

40. Apply insulator tape over glued locations to prevent squeaks and rattles as needed.

41. Headlining Trim Panel (1) » Install

42. Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel (3) » Install

Refer to Fastener Caution.

9. Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

10. Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Install

11. Align 6 retaining clips (2) with the upper and lower trim panels.

12. Center Pillar Center Trim Panel (1) » Install

13. Connect the electrical connectors.

14. Roof Console (3) » Install

15. Roof Console Bolt (2) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

16. Roof Console Opening Trim Plate (1) » Install

17. Sunshade Bolt (2) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications

18. Sunshade Retainer Bolt Cover (1) » Install

19. Roof Rail Assist Handle (2) » Install

20. Roof Rail Assist Handle Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

21. Windshield Garnish Molding Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

22. Align the retainer clips with the slots in the A pillar and press the windshield garnish molding  (1) into place.

23. Windshield Garnish Molding - Left Side (1) » Install

24. Reposition the weatherstrip as necessary.

25. Sunshade Support Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

26. Close the sunshade support bolt access cover.

27. Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling
