Engine Control Module Replacement

  1. Before removing the engine control module (ECM), record the oil life percentage remaining.
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  3. Remove the left front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

  1. { If equipped } Front Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt (1) » Remove

  1. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Remove [3x]

  1. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Remove [3x]
  2. Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer (2) » Remove

  1. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Remove [3x]
  2. Reposition the front wheelhouse liner rearward.

  1. Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors (1) from the engine control module.

  1. Use a suitable tool to pry back the locking tabs (2) securing the engine control module to the control module bracket.

  2. Engine Control Module (1) » Remove Installation Procedure

  3. Engine Control Module (1) » Install

  4. Reconnect the 3 electrical connectors (1) to the engine control module.

  5. Reposition the front wheelhouse liner forward.

  2. Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer (2) » Install

  1. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications
  1. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications

  2. { If equipped } Front Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

  3. Install the left front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

  4. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection

  5. Reprogram the replacement module. Control Module References

  6. Use the scan tool to reset the engine oil life remaining back to the original percentage recorded.
