Liftgate Hinge Replacement (with TC2)

Warning

When a lift gate hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

Caution

Apply pressure only at the end of the liftgate/hood assist rod that you are removing or attaching. Do NOT apply pressure to the middle of the rod because damage or bending will result.

Caution

DO NOT exceed the limit of the liftgate power assist actuator ball socket joint’s free motion during installation to prevent possibility of damage to the actuator.

Caution

Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced. Removal Procedure

1. Liftgate Weatherstrip (1) » Reposition

2. Use a flat-bladed plastic trim tool to disengage the body side rear window garnish molding (1) and retaining clips on both sides.
3. Body Side Rear Window Garnish Molding - Left Side and Right Side (1) » Remove

4. Body Side Rear Window Garnish Molding Bolt - Left Side and Right Side (1) » Remove
5. Body Side Rear Window Garnish Molding Tether Retaining Clip- Left Side and Right Side (2) » Remove

6. Body Rear Corner Upper Garnish Molding Bolt - Left Side and Right Side (1) » Remove

7. Use a flat-bladed plastic trim tool to disengage the 2 body rear corner upper garnish molding (1) and retaining clips.

Note

Lower to gain access to rear window washer nozzle hose extension

9. Lower the headlining trim panel (1).
10. Disengage the retaining clips (2) at the rear of the headliner trim panel.
11. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
12. Rear Window Washer Nozzle Hose Extension » Disconnect
13. Disconnect the upper panel grommet from the body of the vehicle.

14. Raise the rear compartment lift window.
15. Rear End Spoiler Bolt (1) » Remove [4x]

18. Rear Window Defroster Electrical Connector Trim Cover (1) » Remove [2x]
19. Rear Window Defroster Electrical Connector (2) » Disconnect [2x]
20. Disconnect the liftgate window struts from the rear compartment lift window.

21. Remove the liftgate hinge pin retainers (1).

22. With aid of assistance, lift and slid the rear compartment lift window (1) to the left side of the vehicle and remove from the hinge pins (2).

23. Rear Compartment Lift Window (1) » Remove
24. Install liftgate support.

25. Liftgate Hinge Bolt (1) » Remove [2x]

26. Lower the headlining trim panel (1) enough to gain access to the liftgate hinge nuts.

27. Liftgate Hinge Nut (1) » Remove [2x]

28. Liftgate Hinge (2) » Remove Installation Procedure

29. Liftgate Hinge (2) » Install

Caution

Refer to Fastener Caution.

2. Liftgate Hinge Nut (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

3. Liftgate Hinge Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

4. Remove liftgate support.

5. Rear Compartment Lift Window (1) » Install

6. With aid of assistance, lift and slid the rear compartment lift window (1) to the right and onto the hinge pins (2).

7. Install the liftgate hinge pin retainers (1).

8. Connect the liftgate window struts to the rear compartment lift window.

9. Rear Window Defroster Electrical Connector (2) » Connect [2x]

10. Rear Window Defroster Electrical Connector Trim Cover (1) » Install [2x]

11. Rear End Spoiler (1) » Install

12. Rear End Spoiler Bolt (2) » Install and tighten [11x] — Fastener Specifications

13. Rear End Spoiler Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [4x] — Fastener Specifications

14. Connect all electrical connectors.

15. Rear Window Washer Nozzle Hose Extension » Connect

16. Connect the liftgate upper panel grommet.

17. Engage the retaining clips (2) at the rear underside of the headlining trim panel (1).

18. Headlining Trim Panel (1) » Install

19. Engage the 2 body rear corner upper garnish molding (1) and retaining clips.

20. Body Rear Corner Upper Garnish Molding - Left Side and Right Side (1) » Install

21. Body Rear Corner Upper Garnish Molding Bolt - Left Side and Right Side (1) Install and tighten Fastener Specifications

22. Body Side Rear Window Garnish Molding Tether Retaining Clip- Left Side and Right Side (2) » Install

23. Body Side Rear Window Garnish Molding Bolt - Left Side and Right Side (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

24. Engage the body side rear window garnish molding (1) and retaining clips on both sides.

25. Body Side Rear Window Garnish Molding - Left Side and Right Side (1) » Install

26. Liftgate Weatherstrip (1) » Install

27. Confirm function of high mount stop lamp and washer nozzle.

28. Adjust liftgate as necessary.

29. Perform the necessary programming and setup procedure: Liftgate Calibration
