Note

Not all factory spot welds can be reinstalled due to interference with internal structure parts. In place of spot welds, structural adhesive will be used.

1. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling.
2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
3. Remove all related panels and components.
4. Remove the sealers and anti-corrosion materials from the repair area as necessary. Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair

Do not damage or cut attaching panels and reinforcements

5. Remove spot welds (1). [3x]

7. Remove hood bumper bracket (1) from the vehicle. Installation Procedure

Note

Prepare hood bumper bracket before installation

1. Prepare hood bumper bracket per installation requirements.

Note

Temporarily install the hood bumper bracket for proper fit.

2. Position hood bumper bracket (1) to vehicle using 3-dimensional measuring equipment.

Note

Use 6.7 mm (17/64”) holes for rivet installation.

3. Drill 6.7 mm (17/64”) hole (1) through hood bumper bracket for rivet installation. [2x]

4. Drill 6.7 mm (17/64”) hole (1) through hood bumper bracket for rivet installation. [2x]

5. Remove the hood bumper bracket (1) from the vehicle.

Note

Only remove E-coat where adhesive will be applied.

6. Clean and prepare hood bumper bracket and vehicle for adhesive according to adhesive manufacturer’s recommendations. Metal Panel Bonding

7. Apply structural adhesive (1) on the mating surfaces of hood bumper bracket and vehicle according to adhesive manufacturer’s recommendations. Metal Panel Bonding

8. Install hood bumper bracket (1) to vehicle and clamp into place.

Note

9. Install rivets (1) in hood bumper bracket. [SR1 2x] Fastener Specifications

10. Install rivets (1) in hood bumper bracket. [SR2 2x] Fastener Specifications
11. Apply the sealers and anti-corrosion materials to the repair area as necessary. Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair

Note

Before refinishing, refer to Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair

12. Paint the repaired area. Basecoat/Clearcoat Paint Systems.
13. Install all related panels and components.
14. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
15. Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling.
