Circuit/System Description Sunshade Mirror Lamps The A103 Roof Console supplies battery voltage to the sunshade lamps with the ignition on/vehicle in service mode. When the sunshade mirror is opened, the switch contacts close allowing battery voltage to flow illuminating the mirror lamp. Front Floor Console Compartment Lamp The K9 Body Control Module (BCM) supplies battery voltage to the center console lamp through control circuit 4786. When the center console lid is opened, the switch contacts close allowing battery voltage to flow illuminating the center console lamp. In the event that the center console lamp were to remain illuminated for more than 10 minutes with the ignition/vehicle off, the BCM will deactivate the courtesy lamp control circuit to prevent total battery discharge. - Ignition on/vehicle in service mode.
- Verify no communication DTCs are set. ⇒ If communication DTCs are set Refer to: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle ⇓ If communication DTCs are not set
- Verify both sunshade mirror lamps turn on when opening the sunshade mirrors. ⇒ If the lamps do not turn on Refer to Circuit/System Testing – Sunshade Mirror Lamp Malfunction ⇓ If the lamps turn on
- Verify the center console lamp turns on when opening the center console lid. ⇒ If the lamp does not turn on Refer to Circuit/System Testing – Front Floor Console Compartment Lamp Malfunction ⇓ If the lamp turns on
- A fault is not currently present and may be an intermittent condition. Circuit/System Testing Sunshade Mirror Lamp Malfunction
- Ignition/vehicle OFF, disconnect the connector at the appropriate A3 Sunshade: A3L Sunshade – Left A3R Sunshade – Right
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between ground circuit terminal 2 and B+. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate 2.1. Repair the open/high resistance on the ground circuit or ground connection. ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates
- Ignition on/vehicle in service mode.
- Verify a test lamp illuminates between control circuit terminal 1 and ground. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate 4.1. Test the appropriate control circuit for a short to ground: A3L Sunshade – Left = Circuit 4785 A3R Sunshade – Right = Circuit 2369 ⇒ If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If a short to ground is not found 4.2. Test the appropriate circuit for an open/high resistance: A3L Sunshade – Left = Circuit 4785 A3R Sunshade – Right = Circuit 2369 ⇒ If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If an open/high resistance is not found 4.3. Replace the A103 Roof Console. ⇒ If the test lamp illuminates
- Replace the sunshade mirror lamp. Front Floor Console Compartment Lamp Malfunction
- Ignition/vehicle OFF, disconnect the X5 connector at the K9 Body Control Module.
- Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between control circuit terminal 1 and B+, ignition ON/vehicle in service mode, center console lid open.
- Verify the E28 Front Floor Console Compartment Lamp turns ON and OFF when connecting and disconnecting the jumper wire. ⇒ If the E28 Front Floor Console Compartment Lamp does not turn ON and OFF 3.1. Ignition/vehicle OFF, disconnect the E28 Front Floor Console Compartment Lamp. 3.2. Verify a test lamp illuminates between ground circuit terminal 1 and B+. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate, repair the open/high resistance on circuit 1250 or ground connection. ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates. 3.3. Test circuit 4786 for a short to ground. ⇒ If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If a short to ground is not found. 3.4. Test circuit 4786 for an open/high resistance. ⇒ If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If an open/high resistance is not found. 3.5. Test circuit 4786 for a short to voltage. ⇒ If a short to voltage is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If a short to voltage is not found. 3.6. Replace the E28 Front Floor Console Compartment Lamp. ⇓ If the E28 Front Floor Console Compartment Lamp turns ON and OFF
