Circuit/System Description The K19 Suspension Control Module commands variable levels of current to each Q37 Shock Absorber Actuator in response to rough road, braking or abrupt steering maneuver driving conditions. The current variation is performed by pulse width modulation (PWM) of the system voltage. The K19 Suspension Control Module continuously measures the actual current of each actuator. When a deviation between commanded and actual current is detected, a DTC is set. Conditions for Running the DTC System voltage is between 9–16 V. Conditions for Setting the DTC C1034 11, C1035 11, C1036 11, and C1037 11 A short to ground on the control circuit is detected. C1034 12, C1035 12, C1036 12, and C1037 12 A short to voltage on the control circuit is detected. C1034 13, C1035 13, C1036 13, and C1037 13 An open circuit on the control circuit is detected. C1034 1A, C1035 1A, C1036 1A, and C1037 1A Low resistance on the control circuit is detected. C1034 1B, C1035 1B, C1036 1B, and C1037 1B High resistance on the control circuit is detected. C1034 28, C1035 28, C1036 28, and C1037 28 An erratic current on the actuator circuit is detected. Action Taken When the DTC Sets The electronic suspension control is disabled for the duration of the ignition cycle. The driver information center displays the SERVICE SUSPENSION SYSTEM message. Conditions for Clearing the DTC A present DTC will clear on the next consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycle. A history DTC will clear after 41 consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycles. - Verify DTCs C1034 11, C1035 11, C1036 11, and C1037 11 are not set at the same time ⇒ If DTCs C1034 11, C1035 11, C1036 11, and C1037 11 are all set at the same time Refer to Circuit/System Test B ⇓ If DTCs C1034 11, C1035 11, C1036 11, and C1037 11 are not set at the same time Refer to Circuit/System Test A Circuit/System Testing Test A
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the connector at the appropriate Q37 Shock Absorber Actuator: DTC C1034 = Q37LF Shock Absorber Actuator — Left Front DTC C1035 = Q37LR Shock Absorber Actuator — Left Rear DTC C1036 = Q37RF Shock Absorber Actuator — Right Front DTC C1037 = Q37RR Shock Absorber Actuator — Right Rear
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuits terminal 1 and terminal 2, ignition ON.
- Verify the test lamp illuminates while commanding the appropriate output control in the scan tool. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate 3.1. Test the appropriate circuits for a short to ground: DTC C1034 = Circuit 1107, 1113 DTC C1035 = Circuit 1114, 1115 DTC C1036 = Circuit 1116, 1117 DTC C1037 = Circuit 1118, 1119 ⇒ If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If a short to ground is not found. 3.2. Test the appropriate circuits for an open/high resistance: DTC C1034 = Circuit 1107, 1113 DTC C1035 = Circuit 1114, 1115 DTC C1036 = Circuit 1116, 1117 DTC C1037 = Circuit 1118, 1119 ⇒ If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If an open/high resistance is not found. 3.3. Test the appropriate circuits for a short to voltage: DTC C1034 = Circuit 1107, 1113 DTC C1035 = Circuit 1114, 1115 DTC C1036 = Circuit 1116, 1117 DTC C1037 = Circuit 1118, 1119 ⇒ If a short to voltage is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If a short to voltage is not found. 3.4. Replace the K19 Suspension Control Module. ⇓ If the test illuminates
- Test or replace the appropriate Q37 Shock Absorber Actuator. Test B
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the connector at each of the Q37 Shock Absorber Actuators.
- Disconnect the connector at the K19 Suspension Control Module.
- Test the following circuits for a short to ground: Circuit 1107 Circuit 1113 Circuit 1114 Circuit 1115 Circuit 1116 Circuit 1117 Circuit 1118 Circuit 1119 ⇒ If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If a short to ground is not found
- Test for 1–3 Ω between each Q37 Shock Absorber Actuator terminals 1 and 2. ⇒ If not within the specified range Replace the appropriate Q37 Shock Absorber Actuator. ⇓ If within the specified range
- Replace the K19 Suspension Control Module. Component Testing Static Test
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the connector at the appropriate Q37 Shock Absorber Actuator.
- Test for 1–3 Ω between the Q37 Shock Absorber Actuator control terminals. ⇒ If not within the specified range, replace the Q37 Shock Absorber Actuator.
