Single Use Fasteners and Components Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Seal [3x]

The battery must be disconnected to prevent the brake master cylinder from pressurizing the hydraulic system during its automated self diagnostic tests that can possibly occur when a door is opened or the key transmitter is activated. Failure to follow this precaution may cause personal injury.

Note

Use all components included with the service kit. Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
2. Thoroughly clean the brake master cylinder reservoir and the brake master cylinder body to remove any dirt and debris.

3. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamp (1) » Loosen [2x]
4. Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct (2) » Remove

5. Disconnect the mass airflow sensor electrical connector.
6. Air Cleaner Housing Cover Bolt (1) » Remove [3x]
7. Air Cleaner Upper Housing (2) » Remove

8. Radiator Surge Tank Bolt (1) » Remove

9. Without disconnecting the hoses, remove the radiator surge tank and position aside. (1)
10. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
11. Remove the left front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

13. Electrical Connector (1) @ Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch » Disconnect
14. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.

15. Brake Master Cylinder Bolt (1) » Remove [2x]

16. Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir (1) » Remove

17. Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Seal (1) » Remove and DISCARD [3x]

18. Transfer components as necessary.

19. Clean any brake fluid from the underbody area and remove the drain pan from under the vehicle. Installation Procedure

20. Lubricate the brake master cylinder reservoir seals (1) with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

21. Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Seal (1) » Install NEW [3x]

22. Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir (1) » Install

Caution

Refer to Fastener Caution.

4. Brake Master Cylinder Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

5. Electrical Connector (1) @ Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch » Connect

6. Front Wheelhouse Liner - Left Side » Install — Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement

7. Install the left front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

8. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.

9. Radiator Surge Tank (1) » Install

10. Radiator Surge Tank Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

11. Air Cleaner Upper Housing (2) » Install

Caution

Refer to Fastener Caution.

12. Air Cleaner Housing Cover Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications

13. Connect the mass airflow sensor electrical connector.

14. Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct (2) » Install

15. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamp (1) » Tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

16. Connect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection

17. Fill the brake master cylinder reservoir to the maximum-full level with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling
