Warning

If the air lines need to be removed to perform repairs on any air suspension components, depressurize the Automatic Level Control System. This will prevent vehicle damage or personal injury.

Warning

Do NOT remove Automatic Level Control System components under any circumstances when the system is pressurized. Disconnecting a pressurized air line that is connected to an Automatic Level Control System component can cause damage to components or personal injury. Removal Procedure

1. Place the air system in service mode.
2. Raise the vehicle until the tires are off the ground. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
3. Using the scan tool, deflate the air spring that will be serviced.
4. Remove the front tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

13. Disconnect the electrical connector for the electronic suspension wheel front vertical accelerometer (1) and the front air shock harness electrical connector (2).

14. Unclip and reposition the chassis wiring harness bracket (1) away from the frame shock tower.

15. Disconnect the air line nut (1) and position the air line aside.

19. Remove the front wheel speed sensor bracket bolt (1) and reposition the front wheel speed sensor bracket (2) away from the front upper control arm.

21. { If equipped } Front Disc Brake Pad Wear Sensor (1) @ Front Brake Caliper » Remove

23. { If equipped } Position the front disc brake pad wear sensor wiring harness (1) out of the way.

29. Disconnect the front suspension automatic forward lighting position sensor (1) from the electronic suspension front position sensor link ball stud (2).

Note

Using a jack stand support the lower control arm to prevent over-articulation of the front lower control arm ball joint.

32. Using the CH-42188–B Ball Joint Separator(1) , separate the left front upper control arm (2) from the steering knuckle.
33. Remove the CH-42188–B Ball Joint Separator(1) from the left front upper control arm (2) and the steering knuckle.

3. Front Upper Control Arm Nut (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

4. Front Upper Control Arm Ball Stud Nut (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

5. Electronic Suspension Front Position Sensor Link Ball Stud (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

6. Connect the front suspension automatic forward lighting position sensor (1) to the electronic suspension front position sensor link ball stud (2).

7. Reposition and install the front wheel speed sensor bracket (2).

8. Front Wheel Speed Sensor Bracket Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

9. Front Wheel Speed Sensor Wiring Harness (1) @ Wiring Harness Bracket » Install

10. Front Wheel Speed Sensor Bracket (2) » Install

11. Front Wheel Speed Sensor Bracket Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

12. Front Wheel Speed Sensor (3) » Install

13. Front Wheel Speed Sensor Bolt (4) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

14. { If equipped } Position the front disc brake pad wear sensor wiring harness (1) into place.

15. { If equipped } Front Disc Brake Pad Wear Sensor Retainer (2) » Install

16. { If equipped } Front Disc Brake Pad Wear Sensor (1) @ Front Brake Caliper » Install

17. Front Brake Hose Bracket Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

Note

Prior to installing the front shock absorber, you MUST apply anti-corrosion wax to the frame shock tower.

18. Apply anti-corrosion wax to the frame shock tower. Anti-Corrosion Treatment and Repair
19. Support the front shock absorber using a suitable jack stand.

20. Reposition the air line, then install and tighten the air line nut (1). Fastener Specifications

21. Front Shock Absorber (1) » Install

22. Front Shock Absorber Nut (1) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications

23. Front Shock Absorber Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

24. Reposition and install the chassis wiring harness bracket (1) to the frame shock tower.

25. Connect the electrical connector for the electronic suspension wheel front vertical accelerometer (1) and the front air shock harness electrical connector (2).

33. { If equipped } Front Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

34. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

35. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.

36. Turn service mode off.

37. With the vehicle off the hoist and on flat level ground, use the scan tool to reset trim heights. Trim Height Inspection
