Engine Controls and Fuel - 5.3L L84 or 6.2L L87 | Repair Instructions | Document ID: 5867695 Diagnostic Instructions Perform the Diagnostic System Check prior to using this diagnostic procedure: Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle Review the description of Strategy Based Diagnosis: Strategy Based Diagnosis Description For an overview of the component/system, refer to: Owner’s manual The Air Cleaner Monitor Setup is used to inform the driver when the next service interval is required. The Air Cleaner Monitor displays the status of the air cleaner, the Air Cleaner Life Remaining, and displays the percentage of air cleaner life. The Air Cleaner Monitor Setup can be used to Disable/Enable the monitor and Reset the Air Cleaner Life Remaining percentage. The control module K20 monitors the following: Air Cleaner Monitor Test Result Ambient Air Temperature Distance Traveled Engine Coolant Temperature Engine Load Engine Speed Humidity Sensor Intake Air Temperature Signal Time Since Last Service Interval Reset Total Mass Air Flow Vehicle Speed If air cleaner maintenance is required the Replace Filter Now message will be activated when the control module P16 Instrument Cluster receives a serial data message from the control module K20 Engine Control Module. This procedure resets the control module learned values of the component/system: Air Cleaner Monitor When to Perform the Procedure Perform this procedure when the following component has been serviced: Air Cleaner Element — Replaced Conditions for Running the Procedure DTCs related to the following system/component = Not Set — Induction System Air Cleaner Monitor = Enabled Air Cleaner Monitor Test Result = OK Ignition = On & Engine = Off Vehicle Speed = 0 km/h (0 MPH) Reference Information Scan Tool Reference Scan Tool Reference Control Module References With Scan Tool

  1. Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode & Engine » Off
  2. Select: Module Diagnostics
  3. Select: [ K20 ] Engine Control Module
  4. Select: Configuration/Reset Functions
  5. Select: Air Cleaner Monitor Setup
  6. Select: Reset
  7. Verify the display at the component: P16 Instrument Cluster — Air Filter Life= 100% ⇒ If not the specified value Repeat the procedure starting at step 1 ⇓ If the specified value
