| K111 Fuel Pump Power Control Module |
The control module contains a microprocessor used to process input data to control outputs. The control module communicates with the control module K20 via serial data. |
| R29 Fuel Filter |
The electrical fuel heater is integrated into the fuel filter. The sensor uses two electrodes to measure the electric conductivity of the fluid in the fuel filter assembly. Since water has a higher conductivity than diesel fuel, it can be determined how much water is in the filter. |

DTC P1103, P16D7, P16D8, P16D9, P262B = Not set
Ignition and Start Switch Signal = On — For less than 2 s
Ignition Off Time = Greater than 1 min
Ignition and Start Signal = Greater than 11 V
Frequency the DTC runs = Once — Per drive cycle — After the running conditions are met
P2269
DTC P1103, P16D7, P16D8, P16D9, P262B = Not set
Ignition and Start Switch Signal = On — For greater than 15 s
Ignition and Start Signal = Greater than 11 V
Frequency the DTC runs = Continuously — After the running conditions are met
Conditions for Setting the DTC

Control module K111 detects: — Water In Fuel Indicator Sensor = Not within a calibrated range —
For greater than 1 s
P2269
Water In Fuel Indicator Sensor = Less than 2.0 V — For greater than 8 s

- Verify DTC U18A2 is not set.

- Verify DTC P2264, P2269 is not set.

3.1. Verify the condition does not exist: Water @ Fuel Filter Water Bleed Screw
⇒ If a condition exists » Refer to: Water-in-Fuel Draining
⇒ If no condition exists » Refer to: Circuit/System Testing
⇓ If none of the DTCs are set
- Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC. You may also operate the
vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.
Verify the DTC does not set.

- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems » Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: R29 Fuel Filter
- Test for less than 10 Ω between the test points: Low Reference circuit terminal 4 & Ground
⇒ If 10 Ω or greater
3.1. Disconnect the electrical connector: K111 Fuel Pump Power Control Module
3.2. Test for less than 2 Ω between the test points: Low Reference circuit terminal 4 @
Component harness & The other end of the circuit @ Control module harness
⇒ If 2 Ω or greater » Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
⇒ If less than 2 Ω » Replace the component: K111 Fuel Pump Power Control Module
⇓ If less than 10 Ω
- Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
- Verify a test lamp turns On between the test points: Ignition circuit terminal 3 & Low
Reference circuit terminal 4
⇒ If the test lamp does not turn On
Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit: Ignition circuit
⇓ If the test lamp turns On
- Verify the scan tool parameter: Water in Fuel = No
⇒ If not the specified state
6.1. Ignition/Vehicle » Off
6.2. Disconnect the electrical connector: K111 Fuel Pump Power Control Module
6.3. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Signal circuit terminal 5 @ Component
harness & Ground
⇒ If less than infinite resistance » Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
⇒ If infinite resistance » Replace the component: K111 Fuel Pump Power Control Module
⇓ If the specified state
- Connect a 3 A fused jumper wire between the test points: Signal circuit terminal 5 & Low
Reference circuit terminal 4
- Verify the scan tool parameter: Water in Fuel = Yes
⇒ If not the specified state
8.1. Ignition/Vehicle » Off & Remove » Jumper wire(s)
8.2. Disconnect the electrical connector: K111 Fuel Pump Power Control Module
8.3. Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
8.4. Test for less than 1 V between the test points: Signal circuit terminal 5 @ Component
harness & Ground
⇒ If 1 V or greater » Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
⇓ If less than 1 V
8.5. Ignition/Vehicle » Off
8.6. Test for less than 2 Ω between the test points: Signal circuit terminal 5 @ Component
harness & The other end of the circuit @ Control module harness
⇒ If 2 Ω or greater » Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
⇒ If less than 2 Ω » Replace the component: K111 Fuel Pump Power Control Module
