Sunroof Wiring Harness Replacement (Long Wheel Base)

Caution

If a vehicle is equipped with a head curtain inflator module ensure that the inflator module and tether are undamaged. If tether or curtain airbag are damaged in any way, they must be replaced.

Caution

Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced. Removal Procedure

1. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling
2. Open the sunroof sunshade.

3. Reposition the sunroof opening trim finish lace to gain access to the bolts.
4. Sunroof Window Bolt (1) » Remove [6x]

6. Reposition the sunroof opening trim finish lace to gain access to the bolts.

8. Roof Stationary Window (2) @ Sunroof Window Seal » Disconnect

10. Reposition the weatherstrip as necessary.
11. Pull down the windshield garnish molding (1) rearwards to release the tether from the A pillar.
12. Access the windshield garnish bolt (2) on the backside of the windshield garnish molding (1).

15. Reposition the weatherstrip as necessary.

19. Fold the assist handle downward and hold. (2)
20. Use a small flat-bladed tool to open the assist handle covers to access the bolts.

23. Sunshade Retainer Bolt Cover (1) » Remove
24. Sunshade Bolt (2) » Remove [3x]
25. Squeeze the tabs at the base of the sunshade (3) to detach it from the roof panel and allow the headliner with the sunshade attached to be lowered.

26. Sunshade Retainer Bolt Cover (1) » Remove
27. Sunshade Bolt (2) » Remove [3x]
28. Squeeze the tabs at the base of the sunshade (3) to detach it from the roof panel and allow the headliner with the sunshade attached to be lowered.

29. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
30. Roof Console Opening Trim Plate (1) » Remove
31. Roof Console Bolt (2) » Remove [2x]

33. Disconnect the electrical connectors.

34. Open the sunshade support bolt access covers with an appropriate tool on both sides of vehicle.

36. Insert a suitable flat-bladed plastic trim tool between the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover insert (1) and windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover (2).
37. Separate the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover insert (1) from the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover (2).

39. Using a suitable plastic trim tool, carefully pry downward on the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover (1) to release it from the windshield.
40. Pull downward to remove the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover (1) from the windshield.

41. Using a suitable plastic trim tool, release the retaining tabs on the rear seat position center reading and courtesy lamp (1).

42. Place the coat hook (2) in the open position.

45. Move both front seats fully forward.
46. Use a flat bladed plastic tool between the center pillar center trim panel (1) and the center pillar upper trim panel to disengage the upper retaining clips (2) on both sides of the vehicle.
47. Pull from both sides of the center pillar center trim panel (1) to release the middle and lower retaining clips (2) on both sides of the vehicle.

Caution

49. Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Remove [2x]
50. Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Bolt (2)» Remove [2x]
51. Pull the center pillar upper trim panel (3) toward the inside of the vehicle to disengage the retaining clips on both sides of the vehicle.

Note

The Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel does not need to be fully removed from the vehicle.

61. Reposition the sunroof housing front drain hose.
62. Retaining Clip (1) » Remove [2x]
63. Place all the rear seats in the fully stowed position.
64. Place the front seats in the fully reclined position.
65. Disconnect the electrical connectors at the windshield module.
66. Lower the headlining trim panel.

67. Disconnect the sunroof housing front drain hoses (1) from the front sunroof housing drain gutters.

68. Disconnect the sunroof housing rear drain hoses (1) from the rear sunroof housing drain gutters.

69. Remove the 2 sunroof housing wiring harness retaining tabs (1).

70. Remove the 13 sunroof module bolts (1), leaving the side 2 centermost sunroof module bolts  (2) installed.

71. With the aid of an assistant, remove the 2 remaining sunroof module bolts (1) and gently lower the sunroof housing (2).
72. With the aid of an assistant, carefully remove the sunroof housing (2) and place on a clean prepared surface.

73. Disconnect the electrical connectors.
74. Release the sunroof wiring harness retaining tab (1).
75. Release the 5 sunroof wiring harness retaining clips (2).

Note

Observe the mounting and location of the sunroof wiring harness to ensure proper reinstallation.

78. Secure the 5 sunroof wiring harness retaining clips (2).

79. Secure the sunroof wiring harness retaining tab (1).

80. Connect the electrical connectors.

81. With the aid of an assistant, carefully install the sunroof housing (2).

82. With the aid of an assistant, install and hand tighten the side 2 centermost sunroof module bolts (1).

Caution

Refer to Fastener Caution.

7. Sunroof Module Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [13x] — Fastener Specifications

8. Sunroof Module Bolt (2) » Tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

9. Install the 2 sunroof housing wiring harness retaining tabs (1).

10. Connect the sunroof housing rear drain hoses (1) to the rear sunroof housing drain gutters.

11. Connect the sunroof housing front drain hoses (1) to the front sunroof housing drain gutters.

12. Headlining Trim Panel » Install

13. Connect the electrical connectors at the windshield module.

14. Place the front seats in the fully upright position.

15. Place all the rear seats in the fully upright and locked position.

16. Retaining Clip (1) » Install [2x]

17. Reposition the sunroof housing front drain hose.

18. Body Lock Pillar Upper Trim Panel (1) » Reposition

19. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

20. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Install

21. Body Lock Pillar Upper Trim Panel (1) » Reposition

22. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

23. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Install

24. Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel (3) » Install [2x]

25. Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Bolt (2)» Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

26. Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Install [2x]

27. Align the retaining clips (2) with the upper and lower trim panels on both sides of the vehicle.

28. Center Pillar Center Trim Panel (1) » Install [2x]

29. Coat Hook (2) » Install [2x]

30. Coat Hook Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

31. Apply pressure upward on the rear seat position center reading and courtesy lamp (1) to engage the retaining tabs.

32. Install the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover (1) ensuring the retaining tabs are fully seated.

33. Windshield Multifunction Sensor Mount Bracket Cover Insert (1) » Install

34. Apply pressure upward on the windshield multifunction sensor mount bracket cover insert (1)  to engage the retaining tabs.

35. Sunshade Support Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

36. Close the sunshade support bolt access covers.

37. Connect the electrical connectors.

38. Roof Console (3) » Install

39. Roof Console Bolt (2) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

40. Roof Console Opening Trim Plate (1) » Install

41. Sunshade Bolt (2) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications

42. Sunshade Retainer Bolt Cover (1) » Install

43. Sunshade Bolt (2) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications

44. Sunshade Retainer Bolt Cover (1) » Install

45. Roof Rail Assist Handle (2) » Install [2x]

46. Roof Rail Assist Handle Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [4x] — Fastener Specifications

47. Windshield Garnish Molding - Right Side (3) » Install

48. Windshield Pillar Assist Handle Bolt (2) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

49. Windshield Pillar Assist Handle Cover (1) » Install [2x]

50. Reposition the weatherstrip as necessary.

51. Windshield Garnish Molding Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

52. Align the retainer clips with the slots in the A pillar and press the windshield garnish molding  (1) into place.

53. Windshield Garnish Molding - Left Side (1) » Install

54. Reposition the weatherstrip as necessary.

55. Roof Stationary Window (2) » Install

56. Roof Stationary Window (2) @ Sunroof Window Seal » Connect

57. If a NEW threaded component is being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded component is reused, prepare the threaded component using the following steps: 57.1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the component using a lint free cloth. 57.2. Thread the cleaned component into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive. 57.3. Remove loose debris from internal and external threads using compressed air. 57.4. Apply liquid thread locking adhesive in a strip along half of the length of the external threads, starting at the tip, just prior to installation. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

58. Sunroof Window Bolt (1) » Install and hand tighten [6x]

59. Sunroof Window (2) » Install

61. Sunroof Window Bolt (1) » Install and hand tighten [6x]

62. Ensure the proper sunroof window and roof stationary window height and opening fit. Sunroof Window Height and Opening Fit Adjustment

63. Perform the necessary initialization procedure. Sunroof/Sunshade Motor Initialization

64. Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling
