1. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

2. Position a drain pan under the rear differential carrier (1).
3. Rear Axle Housing Drain Plug (2) » Remove
4. Rear Axle Housing Fill Plug (3) » Remove
5. Clean the rear axle housing drain and fill plugs. Allow the fluid to completely drain.

6. Disconnect the limited slip differential clutch motor electrical connector (1)

7. Limited Slip Differential Clutch Motor Bolt (3) » Remove [4x]
8. Limited Slip Differential Clutch Motor (2) » Remove
9. Limited Slip Differential Clutch Motor Seal (1) » Remove

10. Rear Wheel Drive Shaft Bolt (1) » Remove [8x]
11. Rear Wheel Drive Shaft » Reposition

Note

Modification of the GE-02619-A Slide Hammer w/Adapter may be necessary for fitment. Using a double nut instead of the D-ring handle.

12. Using DT-52903 Axle Flange Remover and GE-02619-A Slide Hammer w/Adapter, Remove the rear axle shaft (1).

13. Rear Axle Shaft Seal (1) » Remove and DISCARD Installation Procedure

14. Using the DT-52906 Output Seal Installer - LH/Motor (2), Install NEW rear axle shaft seal (1).

15. Apply grease to the rear axle shaft seal (1) where it will contact the rear axle shaft slinger. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

16. Rear Axle Shaft (1) » Install

17. Rear Wheel Drive Shaft » Reposition

18. If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps: 5.1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth. 5.2. Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive. 5.3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the components. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 5.4. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.

6. Rear Wheel Drive Shaft Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [8x] — Fastener Specifications

7. Limited Slip Differential Clutch Motor Seal (1) » Install

8. Limited Slip Differential Clutch Motor (2) » Install

9. Limited Slip Differential Clutch Motor Bolt (3) » Install and tighten [4x] — Fastener Specifications

10. Connect the limited slip differential clutch motor electrical connector (1)

Caution

Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Caution.

11. Rear Axle Housing Drain Plug (2) Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications
12. Fill the rear differential carrier with the appropriate amount and type of axle lubricant: Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers Approximate Fluid Capacities
13. The gear lubricant level should be 1 - 2 mm (0.039 - 0.079 in) below the fill plug opening.
14. Rear Axle Housing Fill Plug (3) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications
15. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
