Generator Replacement (LM2)

Removal Procedure

Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
Oil Filler Cap » Remove

Intake Manifold Cover Bolt (1) » Remove
Intake Manifold Cover (2) » Remove
Install the oil filler cap after removal of the intake manifold cover to prevent debris from falling into the engine.

{ If equipped } Hood Latch Actuator Bolt (1) » Remove [2x]
{ If equipped } Hood Secondary Latch Release Handle (2) » Remove

Intake Air Baffle Retainer (1) » Remove [9x]
Intake Air Splash Shield (2) » Remove

Front End Sheet Metal Diagonal Brace Bolt - Left Side and Right Side (1) » Remove [4x]
Front End Sheet Metal Diagonal Brace - Left Side and Right Side (2) » Remove [2x]

Engine Front Cover Bolt (1) » Remove
Pull forward and upward on the engine front cover (2) to release the 5 retaining grommets from the ball studs.
Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

{with RC1} Remove the underbody splash shield. 15.1. Front Bumper Fascia Skid Plate Bolt (1) » Remove [4x] 15.2. Underbody Splash Shield Bolt (2) » Remove [4x]

15.3. Underbody Splash Shield (1) » Remove

{without RC1} Remove the front bumper fascia extension. 16.1. Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Bolt (1) » Remove [10x] 16.2. Front Bumper Fascia Extension Bolt (2) » Remove [8x]

16.3. Pull the front bumper fascia extension (1) rearward and down from the front bumper fascia.

Remove the engine front cover (1) from the bottom of the vehicle.

Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamp (1) » Loosen [2x]
Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct (2) » Remove

Intake Air Duct Retainer (1) » Remove
Intake Air Duct (2) » Reposition

Disconnect the mass airflow sensor electrical connector.
Air Cleaner Housing Cover Bolt (1) » Remove [3x]
Air Cleaner Upper Housing (2) » Remove

Remove all retainers from air cleaner lower housing.
Electrical Connector (1) @ Air Cleaner Lower Housing » Remove

Engine Wiring Harness Fuse Block Bracket Bolt (1) » Remove
Accessory Wiring Junction Block (2) » Reposition

Air Cleaner Nut (1) » Remove

Air Cleaner Lower Housing (1) » Remove

Charge Air Cooler Coolant Reservoir Bolt (1) » Remove
Charge Air Cooler Coolant Reservoir (2) » Position aside

Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose Clip (2) » Unclip [4x]
Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose (1) » Position aside
Detach harness retainers as necessary.

Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Clip (1) @ Engine Coolant Fan Rear Shroud » Remove [2x]

Rotate the accessory drive primary belt tensioner (1) clockwise to release the drive belt tension.
Slide the accessory drive primary belt (2) off of the belt idler pulley and slowly release the accessory drive primary belt tensioner (1).

Drive Belt Idler Pulley (1) » Remove

Radiator Inlet Hose Clip (1) » Unclip
Engine Wiring Harness Retainer (2) » Remove [2x]
Engine Wiring Harness Bracket Bolt (3) » Remove
Engine Wiring Harness Bracket (4) » Remove

Electrical Connector (1) » Disconnect

Battery Positive Cable Nut (1) @ Generator (4) » Remove
Generator Battery Jumper Cable (2) » Remove

Generator Bolt (1) » Loosen until disengaged
Generator Bolt (2) » Remove
Reposition hoses and wiring harness as needed.

Generator (1) » Remove

Generator Bolt (1) » Remove Installation Procedure
Generator Bolt (1) » Loosely install
Generator (1) » Install

Generator Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications
Generator Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications
Generator Battery Jumper Cable (2) » Install
Battery Positive Cable Nut (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications
Electrical Connector (1) » Connect
Engine Wiring Harness Bracket (4) » Install
Engine Wiring Harness Bracket Bolt (3) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications
Engine Wiring Harness Retainer (2) » Install [2x]
Radiator Inlet Hose Clip (1) » Clip
Drive Belt Idler Pulley (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications
Install the accessory drive primary belt (2) to the vehicle.

Install the accessory drive primary belt (2) around all pulleys.
Rotate the accessory drive primary belt tensioner (1) clockwise.
Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose (1) » Install
Air Conditioning Compressor and Condenser Hose Clip (2) » Clip [4x]
Attach harness retainers as necessary.
Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Clip (1) @ Engine Coolant Fan Rear Shroud » Install [2x]
Charge Air Cooler Coolant Reservoir (2) » Install
Charge Air Cooler Coolant Reservoir Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications
Air Cleaner Lower Housing (1) » Install

Air Cleaner Nut (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications
Accessory Wiring Junction Block (2) » Install
Engine Wiring Harness Fuse Block Bracket Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications
Electrical Connector (1) @ Air Cleaner Lower Housing » Install
Install all retainers to the air cleaner lower housing.
Air Cleaner Upper Housing (2) » Install
Air Cleaner Housing Cover Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications
Connect the mass airflow sensor electrical connector.
Intake Air Duct (2) » Install
Intake Air Duct Retainer (1) » Install
Air Cleaner Outlet Front Duct (2) » Install
Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamp (1) » Tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications
Install the engine front cover (1) from the bottom of the vehicle.
{without RC1} Install the front bumper fascia extension.

36.4. Front Bumper Fascia Extension (1) » Install

36.5. Front Bumper Fascia Extension Bolt (2) » Install and tighten [8x] — Fastener Specifications 36.6. Front Bumper Fascia Air Deflector Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [10x] — Fastener Specifications

{with RC1} Install the underbody splash shield. 37.1. Underbody Splash Shield (1) » Install

37.2. Underbody Splash Shield Bolt (2) » Install and tighten[4x] — Fastener Specifications 37.3. Front Bumper Fascia Skid Plate Bolt (1) » Install and tighten[4x] — Fastener Specifications 38. Lower the vehicle.

Push down and rearward on the engine front cover (2) to engage the 5 retaining grommets to the ball studs.
Engine Front Cover Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

Front End Sheet Metal Diagonal Brace - Left Side and Right Side (2) » Install [2x]
If NEW threaded components are being installed, loosen the adhesive using a metal pick or similar tool before proceeding. If threaded components are reused, prepare the threaded components using the following steps: 42.1. Remove any loose cured adhesive from the external threads of the components using a lint free cloth. 42.2. Thread the cleaned components into the internal mating threads and remove to loosen trapped cured adhesive. 42.3. Apply thread locking adhesive to the external threads of the components. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers 42.4. Ensure there are no gaps in the thread locking adhesive once applied to the component.

Intake Air Splash Shield (2) » Install
