Reductant System Malfunction Service Bay Test

Engine Controls and Fuel - 3.0L LM2 Diesel | Diagnostic Information and Procedures | Document ID: 6127552 Description A Reductant System Warning Malfunction Service Bay Test is required by certain diagnostic procedures. Conditions for Running The following conditions must be met in order to enable the scan tool Reductant System Warning Malfunction Service Bay Test: Battery voltage is greater than 11 V. Engine speed is at idle. Engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor is warmer than 70°C (158°F). APP sensor is less than 1 %. Reductant temperature is warmer than −7°C (19°F) and not frozen. Reductant level must be greater than 33 %. Reductant level must not be in restriction warning status 4 or higher. Brake pedal and accelerator pedal are in the released position. Transmission is in Park or Neutral. Diagnostic Aids The Reductant System Warning Malfunction Service Bay Test will not be allowed or will be terminated if any of the following conditions occur: Engine oil temperature is out of range. Engine speed is too high. Transmission is shifted to Drive or Reverse. Accelerator pedal is applied. Brake pedal is applied. Reductant System Warning Malfunction Service Bay Test

  1. Do not connect any shop exhaust removal hoses to the vehicle tailpipe.
  2. Park the vehicle outdoors and keep people, other vehicles, and combustible material away during this procedure.
  3. Do not leave the vehicle unattended.
  1. Verify DEF tank is full and not in reductant warning level restriction. ⇒ If the reductant system is in restriction Fill the DEF tank and perform the scan tool Reductant Fluid Tank Level Reset procedure. ⇓ If the reductant system is not in restriction
  2. Perform the Ambient Air Temperature Reset with a scan tool if the vehicle has been driven in an outside temperature colder than −5°C (+23°F).
  3. Engine idling and at operating temperature, observe the DTC information with a scan tool. Verify there are no DTCs set. ⇒ If a DTC is set Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle ⇓ If a DTC is not set
  4. Perform a Particulate Filter Service Regeneration. Refer To: Particulate Filter Service Regeneration
  5. Verify the scan tool parameter: Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor 2 = Warmer than 218°C (425°F) ⇒ If 218°C (425°F) or colder Wait until the conditions are met ⇓ If 218°C (425°F) or warmer
  1. Start engine.
  2. Engine idling, connect scan tool and select the scan tool Reductant System Warning Malfunction Service Bay Test in the Output Controls menu and follow the instructions.
  1. Command the Reductant System Warning Malfunction Service Bay Test On with a scan tool. The Reductant System Warning Malfunction Service Bay Test should start and run at idle speed for up to 20 minutes.
  2. The Reductant System Warning Malfunction Service Bay Test will complete automatically. ⇒ If the test exceeds 20 minutes 9.1. Engine Idling. 9.2. Command a second Reductant System Warning Malfunction Service Bay Test On with a scan tool. ⇒ If the second test does not complete, a condition with the system still exists ⇓ If the test completes
  3. All OK.
