Throttle Body Cleaning — figure 1

1. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Bracket Bolt (1) » Remove
2. Remove engine wiring harness from air cleaner outlet duct bracket.

3. Positive Crankcase Ventilation Fresh Air Tube (1) » Disconnect — Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
4. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamp (2) » Loosen [2x]
5. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct (3) » Remove
6. Disconnect the electrical connector.
7. Fully open the throttle valve in order to Inspect the throttle body bore and the throttle valve plate for any deposits.

Caution

Do not subject a throttle body assembly which contains the following components to an immersion cleaner or a strong solvent: Throttle position (TP) sensor Throttle actuator control components Sealed throttle shaft bearings The cleaners will damage the electric components or sensors.The cleaners will damage some of these components that contain seals or O-rings.Solvents can wash away or break down the grease used on non-serviceable throttle shaft bearings.Never use a wire brush or scraper to clean the throttle body. A wire brush or sharp tools may damage the throttle body components.Do not use a cleaner that contains methyl ethyl ketone. This extremely strong solvent may damage components and is not necessary for this type of cleaning.

8. Use a clean shop towel and an approved GM engine cleaner. Clean the throttle body bore and the throttle valve plate. If necessary, use a parts cleaning brush in order to remove heavy deposits.

9. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct (3) » Install

Caution

Refer to Fastener Caution.

10. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Clamp (2) » Tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

11. Positive Crankcase Ventilation Fresh Air Tube (1) » Connect — Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

12. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Bracket Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

13. Connect the electrical connector.

14. Install engine wiring harness to air cleaner outlet duct bracket.

15. Perform the following procedure/test: Diagnostic Repair Verification

16. Perform the throttle idle learn procedure. Throttle Body Idle Air Flow Compensation Reset
