Caution

Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any way, it must be replaced.

Note

The Prepare Control Module for Removal function can only be performed when communication with the old control module is still possible.

1. Before removing the rear differential clutch control module, perform SPS function Prepare Control Module for Removal, if available. K164 Differential Control Module: Programming and Setup
2. Disable the SIR system. SIR Disabling and Enabling

3. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Remove
4. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt (2) » Remove

5. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.

Note

Feed the rear seat belt opening bezel and rear seat belt through the body lock upper trim panel.

6. Body Lock Pillar Upper Trim Panel (1) » Reposition

7. Using a flat-bladed plastic trim tool, release the retaining clips.
8. Reposition the quarter lower rear trim panel (1) enough to access the module.

9. Disengage wiring harness retainer (1) and reposition harness.
10. Disconnect the rear differential control module wiring harness connectors (2).

11. Rear Differential Clutch Control Module Bracket Nut (2) » Remove [2x]

12. Rear Differential Clutch Control Module (1) » Remove Installation Procedure

13. Rear Differential Clutch Control Module (1) » Install

Caution

Refer to Fastener Caution

2. Rear Differential Clutch Control Module Bracket Nut (2) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

3. Connect the rear differential control module wiring harness connectors (2).

4. Engage wiring harness retainer (1) and reposition harness.

5. Quarter Lower Rear Trim Panel (1) » Install

6. Body Lock Pillar Upper Trim Panel (1) » Install

7. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

8. Quarter Window Trim Finish Panel Bolt Cap (1) » Install

9. Enable the SIR System. SIR Disabling and Enabling

10. Program the control module: K164 Differential Control Module: Programming and Setup
