1. Rearview Camera = Malfunction

Circuit/System Description The K157 Video Processing Module is connected to each camera via a shielded coaxial cable. The coaxial cable provides power for the camera and also carries the video image from the cameras to the K157 Video Processing Module for processing. The K157 Video Processing Module will then send the processed image output to the infotainment system via another coaxial cable which is monitored by the A11 Radio. Conditions for Running the DTC Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode Conditions for Setting the DTC DTC B1A62 4A The A11 Radio detects that the wrong camera is installed. DTC B1A62 82 The A11 Radio detects that the camera message sequence counter from the K157 Video Processing Module is incorrect or not updated. DTC B1A62 86 The A11 Radio detects that the camera signal message from the K157 Video Processing Module is invalid or not detected. 1. Verify no other Surround Vision system related DTCs are set in K157 Video Processing Module. ⇒ If any other DTCs are set Refer to: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle. ⇓ If no other DTCs are set
2. Verify DTC B1594 is not set in A11 Radio. ⇒ If DTC B1594 is set Refer to: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle. ⇓ If DTC B1594 is not set
3. Refer to: Circuit/System Testing Circuit/System Testing
4. Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
5. Ensure the Surround Vision System is fully calibrated. Refer to: Video Processing Control Module Calibration
6. Verify the DTC does not set. ⇒ If the DTC is not set All OK. ⇓ If the DTC sets
7. Operate the vehicle under the following conditions: On a straight road Distance Traveled = Greater than 0.5 km (0.3 mi)  5. Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems » Off
8. Wait for greater than 60 s.
9. Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
10. Verify the DTC does not set. ⇒ If the DTC is not set All OK. ⇓ If the DTC sets

Note

Before testing the coax cable, check the cable’s exterior for being pinched, cut, damaged, or having loose connections at the components, all of which can cause reception issues.

9. Disconnect the electrical connector: Without TRG= X2 @ K157 Video Processing Module TRG= X3 @ K157 Video Processing Module
10. Disconnect the electrical connector: X5 @ A11 Radio .

Note

Using the EL-52552 COAX FAKRA Cable Adaptor Kit Is critical to performing diagnosis properly.

11. Locate the appropriate pinout adapter and load test loop adapter from EL-52552 COAX FAKRA Cable Adaptor Kit.
12. Connect the 2 adapters together, measure and record the resistance between the terminals at the pinout adapter.
13. Disconnect the 2 adapters and connect each one to the appropriate end of the coax cable.
14. At the pinout adapter test terminals, measure the total resistance of the coax cable loop including the connected load test adapter. ⇒ If not within 5 Ω of the reading from step 10. Replace the coax cable ⇓ If within 5 Ω of the reading from step 10.

Note

Intermittent camera issues including blue or black screens, history DTCs, etc. can be caused by defective coax cables or coax cable connections. Inspect coax cables and connections for issues before replacing related control modules.

15. Replace the K157 Video Processing Module
16. Ensure the Surround Vision System is fully calibrated. Refer to: Video Processing Control Module Calibration
17. Verify the DTC does not set. ⇒ If the DTC is not set All OK. ⇓ If the DTC sets
