DTC Descriptors Brake Pedal Position/Accelerator Pedal Position Incompatible Circuit/System Description The K9 Body Control Module monitors the B22 Brake Pedal Position Sensor and sends a serial data message to the K160 Brake System Control Module when the brake pedal is applied. The Brake System Control Module compares the correlation between the Brake Pedal Position Sensor data and the input rod position sensor internal to the A104 Brake Master Cylinder to sense the driver’s application of the brake pedal. Diagnostic Aids DTC P2299 may set if the brake pedal is applied while accelerating at the same time. Diagnose all other stop lamp DTCs or Symptoms prior to performing this diagnostic procedure. Brake Pedal Applied This data parameter will show the status of the brake pedal being applied as Active/Inactive

K160 Brake System Control Module – Data Display – Antilock Braking Data

Data Parameter Description
Calculated Input Rod Position This data parameter will increase when applying the brake pedal and decrease when releasing the brake pedal.

Conditions for Running the DTC Ignition ON/vehicle in service mode. Brake pedal applied. The ignition voltage is greater than 10 V. The accelerator pedal position is greater than 20 %. Conditions for Setting the DTC The brake pedal position sensor signal is not applied while the brake control brake pedal position sensor indicates the brake pedal is applied. The brake pedal position sensor signal is applied while the brake control brake pedal position sensor indicates the brake pedal is not applied. Action Taken When the DTC Sets A driver information center message and/or a warning indicator will not be displayed. Conditions for Clearing the DTC The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present. The history DTC will clear after 40 consecutive fault-free drive cycles have occurred.   1. Ignition ON/vehicle in service mode.
  2. Verify that no other DTCs are set except for P2299. ⇒ If any other DTCs are set Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle. ⇓ If no other DTCs are not set
  3. Verify the brake pedal position sensor/brake pedal is not binding causing residual brake pressure to be detected. ⇒ If a condition is found Repair or replace the applicable component. ⇓ If a condition is not found
  1. Verify the Brake Pedal Applied scan tool parameter changes between Active and Inactive when applying and releasing the brake pedal. ⇒ If the parameter does not change Refer to Stop Lamps Malfunction. ⇓ If the parameter changes
  2. Verify the scan tool K160 Brake System Control Module Calculated Input Rod Position parameter starts at less than 1 mm with the brake pedal released and increases value when applying the brake pedal. ⇒ If the parameter does not change Replace the A104 Brake Master Cylinder. ⇓ If the parameter does change
