Transfer Case Fluid Replacement Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

  1. If equipped, remove the transfer case skid shield. 2.1. Transfer Case Skid Shield Bolt (1) » Remove [3x] 2.2. Transfer Case Skid Shield (2) » Remove
  2. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.

  1. Transfer Case Oil Drain Plug (2) » Remove

  2. Drain the fluid from the transfer case. Installation Procedure

  3. Apply sealant to the threads of the transfer case oil drain plug (2). Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

  1. Transfer Case Oil Drain Plug (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

  2. Remove the drain pan.

  3. Transfer Case Oil Fill Plug (1) » Remove

  4. Fill the transfer case to the bottom of the oil fill hole with the recommended fluid. Approximate Fluid Capacities Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

  5. Apply sealant to the threads of the transfer case oil fill plug (1). Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

  6. Transfer Case Oil Fill Plug (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

  7. If equipped, install the transfer case skid shield. 8.1. Transfer Case Skid Shield (2) » Install 8.2. Transfer Case Skid Shield Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications

  8. Lower the vehicle.
