1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle

3. {with RC1} Remove the underbody skid shield: 3.1. Underbody Skid Shield Bolt (1) » Remove [2x] 3.2. Underbody Splash Shield Bolt (2) » Remove [2x] 3.3. Underbody Skid Shield (3) » Remove

4. {without RC1} Remove the underbody skid shield: 4.1. Underbody Skid Shield Bolt (1) » Remove [4x] 4.2. Underbody Skid Shield (2) » Remove

5. Starter Heat Shield Bolt (1) » Remove [2x]

6. Starter Heat Shield Bolt (1) » Remove
7. Starter Heat Shield (2) » Remove

8. Battery Negative Cable Ground Bolt (1) » Remove
9. Starter Solenoid Cable (2) » Reposition away

10. Starter Mounting Bolt (1) » Remove [2x]
11. Reposition the starter (2) to access the electrical connections.

12. Protective Sleeve (4) » Reposition
13. Starter Solenoid Cable Nut (2) » Remove
14. Starter Solenoid Cable (1) » Remove
15. Electrical Connector (3) » Disconnect

2. Transmission Converter Cover Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

3. Starter (1) » Install

4. Electrical Connector (3) » Connect

5. Protective Sleeve (4) » Install

6. Starter Solenoid Cable (1) » Install

7. Starter Solenoid Cable Nut (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

8. Starter Mounting Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

9. Starter Solenoid Cable (2) » Install

10. Battery Negative Cable Ground Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

Note

Catalytic converter removed for graphic clarity.

11. Starter Heat Shield (2) » Install

12. Starter Heat Shield Bolt (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

13. Starter Heat Shield Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

14. {with RC1} Install the underbody skid shield: 14.1. Underbody Skid Shield (3) » Install 14.2. Underbody Splash Shield Bolt (2) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications 14.3. Underbody Skid Shield Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

15. {without RC1} Install the underbody skid shield: 15.1. Underbody Skid Shield (2) » Install 15.2. Underbody Skid Shield Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [4x] — Fastener Specifications

16. Lower the vehicle.

17. Connect the negative battery cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
