Warning

In order to avoid being burned, do not service the exhaust system while it is still hot. Service the system when it is cool.

Warning

Avoid contact with HOT components. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves to avoid personal injury. Removal Procedure

1. Front Wheelhouse Liner - Right Side » Remove — Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement

Transmission Vent Hose Replacement (LM2, 2WD without F47) — figure 1

2. Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Nut (1) » Remove [2x]
3. Wiring Harness Retainer (2) » Remove
4. Raise the vehicle.

5. Using a suitable tool, remove the position 2 nitrogen oxides sensor (1) from the nitrogen oxides catalytic converter.

6. Using a suitable tool, remove the position 3 nitrogen oxides sensor (1) from the nitrogen oxides catalytic converter.

7. Using a suitable tool, remove the exhaust particulate sensor (1) from the nitrogen oxides catalytic converter.

8. Exhaust Pipe Clamp (1) » Loosen

9. Exhaust Front Pipe Nut (1) » Remove [2x]

10. Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket (1) » Remove

11. Exhaust Front Pipe Nut (1) » Remove [2x]

12. Nitrogen Oxides Catalytic Converter (1) » Remove
13. Exhaust System Front Gasket (2) » Remove and DISCARD
14. Support the transmission with a suitable jack.

15. Remove the wiring harness (2) from the 3 retainers (1) and reposition as necessary.

16. Transmission Mount Nut (1) » Remove
17. Transmission Support Crossmember Nut (2) » Remove [4x]
18. Transmission Support Crossmember Bolt (3) » Remove [4x]

19. Transmission Support Crossmember (1) » Remove
20. Lower the transmission enough to gain access to the transmission vent hose.

21. Remove the 2 transmission vent hose retainers (1).

22. Remove the transmission vent hose. (2) Installation Procedure

23. Install transmission vent hose. (2)

24. Install the 2 transmission vent hose retainers (1).

25. Raise the transmission into place.

26. Transmission Support Crossmember (1) » Install

27. Transmission Support Crossmember Bolt (3) » Install [4x]

28. Transmission Support Crossmember Nut (2) » Install and tighten [4x] — Fastener Specifications

29. Transmission Mount Nut (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

30. Remove the transmission jack.

31. Install the wiring harness (2) into the 3 retainers (1).

32. Exhaust System Front Gasket (2) » Install NEW

33. Nitrogen Oxides Catalytic Converter (1) » Install

12. Exhaust Front Pipe Nut (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

13. Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket (1) » Install

14. Exhaust Front Pipe Nut (1) » Install [2x] — Fastener Specifications

15. Exhaust Pipe Clamp (1) » Tighten — Fastener Specifications

16. Apply a suitable anti-seize compound to the threads of the sensor. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

Caution

Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Caution.

17. Exhaust Particulate Sensor (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

18. Apply a suitable anti-seize compound to the threads of the sensor. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

19. Nitrogen Oxides Sensor - Position 3 (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

20. Apply a suitable anti-seize compound to the threads of the sensor. Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers

21. Nitrogen Oxides Sensor - Position 2 » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

22. Lower the vehicle.

23. Wiring Harness Retainer (2) » Install

24. Catalytic Converter Brace Bracket Nut (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

25. Front Wheelhouse Liner - Right Side » Install — Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement

26. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks.
