It also monitors ROM or RAM memory faults, and performs other internal diagnostics. The B110 Battery Monitor Module is powered by circuit  2340 and is grounded by the cable clamp directly to the negative battery post. The information is reported to the K20 Engine Control Module on LIN circuit 2855. Conditions for Running the DTC The system voltage is above 9.0 V The ignition is not OFF Conditions for Setting the DTC P058A The B110 Battery Monitor Module detects an internal fault. P058B The B110 Battery Monitor Module detects an internal fault after comparing an induced 50 µA current to the Battery Monitor Module calculated current. P058C The B110 Battery Monitor Module detects a difference between raw temperature values to be 10°  C (50.0° F) for more for 8 out of 10 samples. P058D An absolute difference of 5.00 V or more is detected between the 12 V system reference voltage measured by the ECM, and 12 V battery voltage measured by the B110 Battery Monitor Module for 32 out of 40 samples. P058E The B110 Battery Monitor Module detects a raw temperature 2 value of 120° C (248.0° F) or more for 4 out of 5 samples. P058F The B110 Battery Monitor Module detects a raw temperature 2 value of -43° C (-45.4° F) or less for 4 out of 5 samples. Action Taken When the DTC Sets DTC P058A, DTC P058B, DTC P058C, DTC P058D, DTC P058E, DTC P058F, are Type B DTCs. Stop/Start system will be disabled while a current fault is present. Conditions for Clearing the DTC DTC P058A, DTC P058B, DTC P058C, DTC P058D, DTC P058E, DTC P058F, are Type B DTCs. Diagnostic Aids A high or low voltage DTC set or voltage value in multiple modules/sensors indicates a concern in the charging system. A possible cause of this DTC could be overcharging with a battery charger or jump starting. A possible cause of this DTC is a discharged battery or a poor/intermittent connection at X1 B110 Battery Monitor Module. The device is connected to the LIN bus, if there is a fault in another device on the LIN bus it can cause the B110 Battery Monitor Module to set intermittent false codes. A loose battery clamp to post connection can cause B110 Battery Monitor Module DTCs to set. The last 2 digits of the circuit number are significant in identifying its power and ground functions. – Circuits ending in 42 are primary fused B+ circuits (generally the first fuse in the circuit after the battery) – Circuits ending in 40 are secondary fused circuits (generally fuses in a fuse block after the primary circuit) – Circuits ending in 39 and 41 are ignition voltage circuits. – Circuits ending in 50 are grounds. – Circuits ending in 51 are low reference (ground) circuits.   1. Ignition OFF, measure and record the battery voltage at the battery terminals.
  2. Verify the battery voltage stabilizes between 12.4 and 12.8 V within a few minutes of turning the ignition OFF. ⇒ If battery voltage is less than 12.4 V or more than 12.8 V Refer to Battery Inspection/Test. ⇓ If battery voltage is between 12.4 and 12.8 V
  3. Engine running, headlights ON, measure and record the battery voltage at the battery terminals.
  4. Verify the voltage is at least 1 V greater than the voltage measured in step 1, but less than 15 V. ⇒ If the voltage is not at least 1 V greater than the voltage measured in step 1 or is greater than 15 V. Refer to Charging System Test. ⇓ If the voltage is at least 1 V greater than the voltage measured in step 1, but less than 15 V.
  5. Inspect the wiring circuits to the B110 Battery Monitor Module for proper routing and/or damage. ⇒ If a condition is found Repair the condition. ⇓ If no condition is found
  6. Verify no current or history DTCs are set for devices on LIN circuit 2855. ⇒ If any DTCs are set Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle. ⇓ If no DTCs are set

  1. Ignition OFF and all vehicle systems OFF.
  2. Test for less than 2 Ω between the C1 Battery negative post and battery clamp. ⇒ If 2 Ω or greater Repair the high resistance in the connection. ⇓ If less than 2 Ω
  3. Disconnect the C1 Battery.
  4. Test for less than 2 Ω between the B110 Battery Monitor Module clamp and B110 Battery Monitor Module ground circuit terminal A X2. ⇒ If 2 Ω or greater Replace B110 Battery Monitor Module. ⇓ If less than 2 Ω
  5. Connect the C1 Battery.
  6. Disconnect the X1 connector at the B110 Battery Monitor Module.
  7. Verify a test lamp illuminates between B+ circuit terminal 2 X1 and ground. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is good 7.1. Test circuit 2340 for an open/high resistance. ⇒ If an open/high resistance is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If an open or high resistance is not found 7.2. Verify the fuse is not open and there is voltage at the fuse. ⇒ If the test lamp does not illuminate and the circuit fuse is open 7.1. Test circuit 2340 for a short to ground ⇒ If a short to ground is found, repair the fault on the circuit. ⇓ If a short to ground is not found 7.2. Replace the B110 Battery Monitor Module. ⇓ If the test lamp illuminates
