Diagnostic Instructions Perform the Diagnostic System Check prior to using this diagnostic procedure: Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle Review the description of Strategy Based Diagnosis: Strategy Based Diagnosis An overview of each diagnostic category can be found here: Diagnostic Procedure Instructions DTC Descriptor DTC C0555 Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Incorrect Component Installed DTC C0556 Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor Incorrect Component Installed DTC C0557 Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Incorrect Component Installed DTC C0558 Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Incorrect Component Installed Symptom Byte Information: Symptom Byte List Circuit/System Description For an overview of the component/system, refer to: ABS Description and Operation Conditions for Running the DTC Ignition/Vehicle = ON Conditions for Setting the DTC Incorrect installation of a component: Actions Taken When the DTC Sets ABS Indicator Control = ON Traction/Stability Control Indicator = ON Hill Descent Control = ON A message and/or warning indicator may be displayed to the driver. Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) = ON Vehicle speed may be limited to 58km/h (36mph). DTCs listed in the DTC Descriptor category = Type A DTC Conditions for Clearing the DTC DTCs listed in the DTC Descriptor category = Type A DTC Diagnostic Aids Inspect the component for wear or damage: B5 Wheel Speed Sensor . Do NOT use a magnet to clean the component: Encoder Ring . Inspect the following components: B5 Wheel Speed Sensor = Correct part . If the customer comments that the ABS indicator is ON only during moist environmental conditions (rain, snow, vehicle washed), inspect the wheel speed sensor wiring for signs of water intrusion.   1. Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
  2. Verify no other wheel speed sensor DTCs are set ⇒ If any other DTCs are set Refer to: Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle ⇓ If no other DTCs are set
  3. Inspect the following components: B5 Wheel Speed Sensor ≠ Correct part B5 Wheel Speed Sensor = Visible Damage ⇒ If incorrect part or visibly damaged Replace the component: B5 Wheel Speed Sensor ⇓ If correct part or no damage
  4. Verify the DTC does not set. ⇒ If the DTC is not set All OK. ⇓ If the DTC sets
  5. Replace the component: B5 Wheel Speed Sensor
  6. Verify the DTC does not set. ⇒ If the DTC is not set All OK. ⇓ If the DTC sets
