Rear Shock Absorber and Spring Removal and Installation (F47)

  1. Raise the vehicle until the tires are off the ground. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  2. Using the scan tool, deflate the air spring that will be serviced.
  3. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

  1. Rear Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Remove [4x]
  2. Rear Wheelhouse Liner Retainer (2) » Remove

  1. Rear Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Remove [3x]

  1. Rear Brake Hose Bracket Bolt (1) » Remove [2x]
  2. Rear Brake Hose Bracket (2) » Remove [2x]
  3. Using a suitable jack stand, support the rear suspension lower control arm.

  1. Rear Shock Absorber Nut (1) » Remove
  2. Rear Shock Absorber Bolt (3) » Remove
  3. Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Outer Bolt (2) » Remove

  1. Using the jack stand, lower the rear suspension lower control arm (1) to allow clearance for removal of the rear shock absorber.

  1. Chassis Rear Wiring Harness Clip (2) » Remove
  2. Chassis Rear Wiring Harness (1) » Disconnect

  1. Rear Shock Absorber Nut (1) » Remove [3x]
  2. Remove the air line nut (2) and reposition the air line.

  1. Rear Shock Absorber (1) » Remove Installation Procedure

  2. Rear Shock Absorber (1) » Install

  1. Rear Shock Absorber Nut (1) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications

  2. Install the air line nut and tighten. Fastener Specifications

  3. Chassis Rear Wiring Harness (1) » Connect

  4. Chassis Rear Wiring Harness Clip (1) » Install

  5. Using the jack stand, raise the rear suspension lower control arm (1).

  6. Rear Shock Absorber Bolt (3) » Install

  7. Rear Shock Absorber Nut (1) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

  8. Rear Suspension Lower Control Arm Outer Bolt (2) » Install and tighten — Fastener Specifications

  9. Remove the jack stand from under the rear suspension lower control arm.

  10. Rear Brake Hose Bracket (2) » Install [2x]

  11. Rear Brake Hose Bracket Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [2x] — Fastener Specifications

  12. Rear Wheelhouse Liner (1) » Install

  13. Rear Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [7x] — Fastener Specifications

  14. Rear Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications

  15. Rear Wheelhouse Liner Retainer (2) » Install

  16. Rear Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [4x] — Fastener Specifications

  17. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation

  1. Remove the automatic level control air supply reservoir air valve cap (1).
  2. Install CH-52667 Air Spring Inflator to the automatic level control air supply reservoir air valve (2) and set the regulator on the nitrogen tank to 16 Bar (232 PSI).
  3. Using CH-52667 Air Spring Inflator, open the valve on the pressure gage to fill the automatic level control air supply reservoir.
  4. Using CH-52667 Air Spring Inflator and the shop nitrogen tank, fill the automatic level control air supply reservoir to 16 Bar (232 PSI).
  5. Close the pressure gauge valve and remove CH-52667 Air Spring Inflator from the automatic level control air supply reservoir.
  6. Install the automatic level control air supply reservoir air valve cap (1) and tighten. Fastener Specifications.
  7. Partially lower the vehicle, but DO NOT let the wheels touch the ground.
  8. Using GDS2 tool, use short-term inflate to increase pressure to the air springs: Front: 6 Bar (87 PSI) Rear: 5 Bar (73 PSI)
  9. Using GDS2, verify automatic level control air supply tank pressure is at 16 Bar (232 PSI), if not repeat steps 4 - 7.
  10. With the vehicle off the hoist and on flat level ground, use the scan tool to reset trim heights. Trim Height Inspection
