1. Perform the necessary steps to gain access to the magnetic encoder ring located within the wheel bearing assemblies.

Caution

DO NOT use any type of magnetic tool to remove debris from the wheel speed sensor magnetic encoder ring within the bearing assembly; an external magnet can damage the wheel speed sensor magnetic encoder ring, requiring wheel bearing replacement.

Note

2. Inspect the magnetic encoder ring (1) for possible foreign debris (2).
3. If foreign debris is found, perform the following steps to remove all possible foreign debris: 3.1. Gently using a dry nylon soft bristle brush, remove the foreign debris (2) off the magnetic encoder ring (1). If foreign debris (2) was removed, proceed to step 3.2. 3.2. If foreign debris (2) still remains, wash the magnetic encoder ring (1) using a mild soap detergent and wipe dry. After Cleaning

1. Verify the magnetic encoder ring (1) is clear of foreign debris.
2. Install the components that were removed for inspection and cleaning.
3. Connect a scan tool to the vehicle.
4. Turn ON the ignition.
5. Clear the DTCs.
6. Verify the repair and check for proper communication.
7. If problem is still found, replace the appropriate wheel bearing assembly.
