Caution

Always turn the ignition off when installing or removing the ECM connectors in order to prevent damage to the components.

Caution

Turn the ignition OFF when installing or removing the control module connectors and disconnecting or reconnecting the power to the control module (battery cable, powertrain control module (PCM)/engine control module (ECM)/transaxle control module (TCM) pigtail, control module fuse, jumper cables, etc.) in order to prevent internal control module damage. Control module damage may result when the metal case contacts battery voltage. DO NOT contact the control module metal case with battery voltage when servicing a control module, using battery booster cables, or when charging the vehicle battery. In order to prevent any possible electrostatic discharge damage to the control module, do no touch the connector pins or the soldered components on the circuit board. Remove any debris from around the control module connector surfaces before servicing the control module. Inspect the control module connector gaskets when diagnosing or replacing the control module. Ensure that the gaskets are installed correctly. The gaskets prevent contaminant intrusion into the control module. The replacement control module must be programmed. Removal Procedure

3. { If equipped } Front Tire Front Air Deflector Bolt (1) » Remove

6. Front Wheelhouse Liner Retainer (2) » Remove

7. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Remove [3x]
8. Reposition the front wheelhouse liner rearward.

9. Disconnect the electrical connectors. (1)
10. Engine Wiring Harness Retainer (2) » Disengage [2x]
11. Engine Wiring Harness Channel Retainer (3) » Remove [2x]
12. Engine Wiring Harness (4) » Reposition

17. Engine Wiring Harness Retainer (1) » Disengage [2x]
18. Disconnect the electrical connector. (2)

19. Use a suitable tool to release the locking tab and remove the transmission control module (1) by sliding it out from the engine control module bracket (2). Installation Procedure

20. Transmission Control Module (1) @ Engine Control Module Bracket (2) » Install

21. Engine Control Module Bracket (2) » Move into position

22. Connect the electrical connector. (2)

23. Engine Wiring Harness Retainer (1) » Engage [2x]

24. Engine Control Module Bracket (2) » Install

6. Engine Control Module Bracket Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications

7. Engine Control Module (2) » Install

8. Engine Control Module Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [4x] — Fastener Specifications

9. Engine Wiring Harness Retainer (1) @ Engine Control Module Bolt » Engage

10. Engine Wiring Harness (4) » Install

11. Engine Wiring Harness Channel Retainer (3) » Install [2x]

12. Engine Wiring Harness Retainer (2) » Engage [2x]

13. Connect the electrical connectors. (1)

14. Reposition the front wheelhouse liner forward.

15. Front Wheelhouse Liner Bolt (1) » Install and tighten [3x] — Fastener Specifications
