A23LR Rear Side Door Latch - Left |
The door locks are actuated by two bidirectional DC motors. The first motor locks/unlocks the door so that it can not be opened from outside the vehicle (but still from inside). The second motor dead locks the door so that it also can not be opened from the inside. In addition, all unlock buttons inside the vehicle become inoperative. |

Actions Taken When the DTC Sets
Inoperative
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
A current DTC will clear when the diagnostic runs and passes.
A history DTC will clear after 40 consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification
- Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
- Operate the component: S13D Door Lock Switch - Driver » Lock Switch
Verify the correct operation:
Interior Door Handle @ Left Rear Door = Disabled
Interior Door Handle @ Right Rear Door = Disabled
⇒ If the component does not work as specified
Refer to: Circuit/System Testing
⇓ If the component works as specified
- Operate the component: S13D Door Lock Switch - Driver » Unlock Switch
Verify the correct operation:
Interior Door Handle @ Left Rear Door = Enabled
Interior Door Handle @ Right Rear Door = Enabled
⇒ If the component does not work as specified
Refer to: Circuit/System Testing
⇓ If the component works as specified
- All OK.
Circuit/System Testing
- Ignition/Vehicle & All vehicle systems » Off
- Disconnect the electrical connector: A23RR Rear Side Door Latch - Right
- Connect a test lamp between the test points: Control circuit terminal 8 & Ground
- Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
- Operate the component: S13D Door Lock Switch - Driver » Lock Switch & Unlock Switch
Verify the test lamp state:
Not Pressed = Test lamp Off
Lock Switch » Pressed = Test lamp On
Unlock Switch » Pressed = Test lamp On
⇒ If not the specified state
5.1. Ignition/Vehicle » Off & Remove » Test lamp
5.2. Disconnect the electrical connector: A23LR Rear Side Door Latch - Left
5.3. Ignition » On / Vehicle » In Service Mode
5.4. Test for less than 1 V between the test points: Control circuit terminal 10 @ A23RR Door
Latch Assembly - Right Rear & Ground
⇒ If 1 V or greater » Repair the short to voltage on the circuit.
⇓ If less than 1 V
5.5. Ignition/Vehicle » Off
5.6. Test for infinite resistance between the test points: Control circuit terminal 10 @ A23RR
Door Latch Assembly - Right Rear & Ground
⇒ If less than infinite resistance » Repair the short to ground on the circuit.
⇓ If infinite resistance
5.7. Test for less than 2 Ω between the test points: Control circuit terminal 10 @ A23RR Door
Latch Assembly - Right Rear & Control circuit terminal 6 @ A23LR Rear Side Door Latch -
Left
⇒ If 2 Ω or greater » Repair the open/high resistance in the circuit.
⇒ If less than 2 Ω » Replace the component: A23LR Rear Side Door Latch - Left
⇓ If the specified state
- Test or replace the component: A23RR Rear Side Door Latch - Right
